Kyle Freeland finds and then trades one of his favorite teammates on 'Old Baseball Cards'
This all started with a tweet: Colorado Rockies pitcher Kyle Freeland was home for the holidays doing what so many us have done over the years — going through our old baseball cards, getting nostalgic.
Freeland, who finished fourth in NL Cy Young voting last year, found a number of old Rockies players among his old cards.
As it turns out, on this week’s episode of “Old Baseball Cards” — Yahoo Sports’ baseball-card driven walk down memory lane — Freeland found another notable Rockies star.
He tells us all about his friendship with Trevor Story, but then is willing to trade him for a package of ’90s stars. We also find and talk about Sammy Sosa, Mike Trout, Shohei Ohtani and more.
If you’re new our show, here’s what you need to know: We started “Old Baseball Cards” three years ago with a couple boxes of cards from my garage. My grandma bought the cards when I was a kid, thinking they’d be worth a bunch of money one day. They’re not, of course, but their currency is nostalgia. So we open packs with players, coaches and famous fans and hear their memories, stories and reactions.
