Tim Raines drives a hard bargain for famous Jose Canseco rookie on 'Old Baseball Cards'
It’s Hall of Fame week in Major League Baseball. The trade deadline is also approaching. And this week’s new episode of “Old Baseball Cards” — our baseball-card driven nostalgia show — checks both boxes. We have Tim Raines, the 2017 Hall of Fame inductee, as our guest and we make a pretty epic trade.
Raines opens a pack of 1986 Donruss and pulls the famous card from the set — the Jose Canseco Rated Rookie. The same Jose Canseco Rated Rookie that I spent my childhood collecting. The same Jose Canseco rookie card that, despite Canseco’s numerous transgressions, is still worth about $10 all these years later.
Love him or hate him, it’s an iconic baseball card. And I had to get it from Tim Raines. Strap yourselves in, because we go through quite the trade negotiation on this week’s episode. It took almost an entire ’80s/’90s All-Star team. We also hear stories about Reggie Jackson, Sammy Sosa and relive those Expos days.
