Tom Gordon and Nick Gordon have a great father-son moment on 'Old Baseball Cards'
We’re getting close to 100 episodes of “Old Baseball Cards,” Yahoo Sports’ baseball-card-driven nostalgia show, but this week’s all-new episode is a first. It’s the first time we’ve had a father and son baseball-player pair open up cards together.
Tom “Flash” Gordon, who pitched 21 seasons for the Royals, Red Sox and Phillies among others, is joined us with his son Nick Gordon, a prospect in the Minnesota Twins organization, for an episode that gets down to why so many of us love baseball — it’s a connection between kids and their parents.

We’re crossing generations, as Nick opens cards from 2018 and Tom opens cards from 1989, the year he was the Rookie of the Year runner-up. Along the way, we talk about players from both eras, the two of them negotiate a trade after a bit of back-and-forth and they share a great moment talking about what kind of player Tom hopes Nick can be.

We’re not looking for valuable cards, though, we’re looking for great reactions, great stories and great moments.
