Mike Trout finds three baseball icons on 'Old Baseball Cards'
How do you follow up Pete Rose appearing on Episode 100 of “Old Baseball Cards?” How about with the best player in Major League Baseball right now?
Mike Trout is this week’s guest on “Old Baseball Cards,” Yahoo Sports’ baseball-card driven nostalgia show. This week, we find no shortage of superstars. Ichiro, A-Rod and Rickey Henderson make an appearance in cardboard form.

We talk to the Los Angeles Angels star about his card-buying as a kid, what it’s like to be the guy on the baseball card box these days (as he is with Topps Heritage 2019) and a lot more. We find a Hall of Fame pitcher that Trout remembers giving the Philadelphia Phillies fits back in the 1990s and dip into Angels history a bit.
For this episode, we opened 2018 Topps Archives, which have both old players and current players, plus a pack of 2001 Upper Deck, from when Trout was 10 years old.
If you’re new to our show, welcome aboard. We open old packs of cards with baseball players, coaches and famous fans. We’re not necessarily looking for cards that are worth a lot of money, rather we’re looking for great stories, memories and reactions. It all started with cards that my grandma saved from the ’90s, they weren’t much, so I decided to open them with baseball people.
