Even if you didn’t grow up to be a professional baseball player, like many people featured in our 25-Year-Old Baseball Cards video series, baseball cards could still very easily leave an imprint on your childhood.
That was the case with actor Josh Duhamel, who grew up in North Dakota as a Minnesota Twins fan. He went on to be a star of both TV and movies. He’s been in the “Transformers” flicks and other big-screen films such as “Life As We Know It” and “When In Rome.” He starred in the long-running TV show “Las Vegas” and many people (including my mom) still love him from his days on the soap opera “All My Children.”
Baseball fans might also recognize Duhamel from “Spaceman,” in which he played ex-MLB pitcher Bill “Spaceman” Lee. Duhamel was also the ballot ambassador for this year’s MLB All-Star Game and shared the field with Ivan “Pudge” Rodriguez at the Esurance All-Star Challenge. Afterward, Duhamel joined us to open some 1992 Topps and look for a few of his beloved Twins.
If you’re new to this series, we open old baseball cards with baseball players and famous fans, looking for great memories and stories. It all started with unopened boxes of cards in my garage, that were bought by my grandma back in the day. She thought they’d be worth a ton of money one day, but since they’re not, they’re great fodder for our baseball nostalgia series. Check out some of our previous episodes below.
