You want to hear a different take on baseball? Talk to an agent. Same goes for baseball cards too.
When we had baseball’s most famous agent, Scott Boras, on 25-Year-Old Baseball Cards last year he quickly devised a rating system for the cards in our packs to determine who had better cards. It remains one of our most entertaining episodes. This week on 25-Year-Old Baseball Cards, we have Joshua Kusnick, who reps Seth Lugo, Jeremy Jeffress, Carlos Asuaje, among others and has worked for years with Michael Brantley.
Kusnick is also a walking wealth of knowledge about ’80s and ’90s baseball cards. In this episode, we talk about what it’s like to work professionally with people whose baseball cards you used to have when he pulls a Nolan Ryan. Then Kusnick gives a breakdown of which random, old players still sign autographs through the mail. That’s not insight you get in every episode.
If you’re new to this series, we open old baseball-card packs from the ’90s with notable baseball people — players, coaches/managers, famous fans and, occasionally, agents. It started with cards sitting around in my garage that my grandma had bought back when I was a kid and we collected cards together. Those cards aren’t worth much nowadays, so we use them to look for great stories instead. There are plenty of great episodes below to binge:
CELEBS: Alyssa Milano | Josh Duhamel | Joel McHale
STARS FROM BACK IN THE DAY: Frank Thomas | Sandy Alomar Jr. | Delino DeShields | Cliff Floyd | Dan Plesac | Aaron Boone | Bobby Bonilla | Andre Dawson | Ivan Rodriguez | Jack Morris | Jeff Nelson
