Spring roundup: Longoria helps Giants defeat Rangers
Offseason acquisition Evan Longoria hit his first home run of the spring and went 2-for-2 and scored three times as a San Francisco Giants' split squad notched at 9-4 victory over the Texas Rangers at Scottsdale, Ariz.
Longoria, formerly with the Tampa Bay Rays, hit an opposite-field solo blast off Texas right-hander Matt Bush in the fourth inning. Joe Panik, Gregor Blanco and Chris Shaw also hit homers for San Francisco.
Shin-Soo Choo hit a two-run homer for the Rangers.

Justin Bour delivered a run-scoring single in the first inning as Miami blanked New York at Jupiter, Fla. That was the only hit allowed by Mets right-hander Noah Syndergaard, who struck out four in three innings.

Jose Marmolejos hit a two-run single and Kelvin Gutierrez had a two-run double during a seven-run fifth inning as Washington rolled past Houston at West Palm Beach, Fla. Nationals right-hander Stephen Strasburg allowed one run and three hits in two innings while Astros right-hander Justin Verlander struck out five and gave up two hits in three scoreless innings.

Kevin Gausman struck out five in three perfect innings and Anthony Santander hit a two-run homer as Baltimore defeated Philadelphia at Clearwater, Fla. Andrew Pullin hit a sacrifice fly and Deivi Grullon had an RBI double for the Phillies.

Adam Moore homered to help Tampa Bay defeat Detroit at Lakeland, Fla. Nicholas Castellanos and Victor Martinez each hit two-run blasts for the Tigers.

Christian Colon homered and drove in five runs to lead Atlanta past St. Louis at Kissimmee, Fla. Jose Martinez had a run-scoring double and Jedd Gyorko contributed an RBI single for the Cardinals.
Pirates 4, Phillies (ss) 3
Jose Osuna hit a go-ahead, two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh inning as Pittsburgh edged Philadelphia at Bradenton, Fla. Andrew Knapp homered for the Phillies.

Kevin Pillar, Yangervis Solarte and Russell Martin all homered as Toronto knocked off Minnesota at Dunedin, Fla. Taylor Featherston and Ryan LaMarre homered for the Twins.

Mac Williamson homered and had three RBIs and Eury Perez went 4-for-4 with two RBIs as San Francisco routed Cleveland at Goodyear, Ariz. Giovanny Urshela and Edwin Encarnacion went deep for the Indians.

Matt Davidson delivered the go-ahead two-run triple during a six-run sixth inning as Chicago rallied to defeat Kansas City at Surprise, Ariz. Salvador Perez had a run-scoring double for the Royals to increase his spring RBI count to six.

Cory Spangenberg, Hunter Renfroe and Josh Naylor all homered as San Diego cruised past Arizona at Mesa, Ariz. Stephen Piscotty and Bruce Maxwell homered for the Athletics.

Ali Solis hit a three-run homer and Mike Freeman went 3-for-3 with an RBI as Chicago defeated Cincinnati at Mesa, Ariz. Brandon Dixon and Aristides Aquino each hit two-run blasts for the Reds.

Brett Phillips stroked a tiebreaking, run-scoring double in the eighth inning as Milwaukee edged Colorado at Scottsdale, Ariz. David Dahl, Trevor Story, Ryan McMahon and Anthony Bemboom all homered for the Rockies.
Mariners 4, Angels 2
Jean Segura hit a two-run homer to lead Seattle to a win over Los Angeles in Peoria, Ariz. The Mariners' Dee Gordon and the Angels' Matt Thaiss had two hits apiece.
