Player Notes
Noah Syndergaard will be skipped on his next turn through the Mets' starting rotation.

Advice: Steven Matz is going to be activated from the disabled list to fill in Saturday against the Marlins. This is a nice luxury for the first-place Mets, who can give the 23-year-old Syndergaard a nice 10-day break leading into the stretch run and postseason. Syndergaard has a 3.31 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, and 129/29 K/BB ratio over his first 122 1/3 major league innings.

Noah Syndergaard fell apart late in Sunday's win over the Red Sox, taking a no-decision in allowing four runs in 6 2/3 innings.

Advice: Syndergaard allowed his first runs on David Ortiz's two-run home run in the sixth. He allowed an RBI double to Jackie Bradley, Jr. before departing, but reliever Hansel Robles allowed his inherited runner to score. All told, Syndergaard gave up six hits and a walk while striking out three. He now has a 3.31 ERA with a 1.14 WHIP and a 129/29 K/BB ratio over 122 1/3 innings. The right-hander is on track to face the Marlins in Miami next, but the Mets are aiming to limit his and Matt Harvey's innings the rest of the way.

Noah Syndergaard gave up a pair of two-run home runs to the Phillies over five innings on Tuesday but still got the win.

Advice: Syndergaard had the bat-missing stuff, as he struck out nine, but the Phillies figured him out in the third inning as Freddy Galvis and Ryan Howard each hit two-run home runs. He gave up four hits and two walks overall. The Mets are alternating skipping Syndergaard's and Matt Harvey's starts the rest of the way, and it's Syndergaard's turn next. He'll ride the pine with a 3.19 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, and a 126/28 K/BB ratio over 115 2/3 innings.
