Spring roundup: Tucker helps Astros defeat Red Sox

Kyle Tucker slugged a pinch-hit, three-run homer to cap a five-run sixth inning, and Houston went on to post a 10-5 victory over the Boston Red Sox at West Palm Beach, Fla.

Tyler White smacked a two-run double earlier in the inning for the Astros, who had five extra-base hits and eight overall. White also scored two runs.

Hanley Ramirez homered, and right-hander Rick Porcello struck out four in two scoreless innings for Boston.

Yandy Diaz, Abraham Almonte and Francisco Mejia all had two-run singles in a six-run eighth inning and Giovanny Urshela hit the tiebreaking single in the ninth as Cleveland rallied to beat Los Angeles at Glendale, Ariz. Jake Peter hit a three-run homer for the Dodgers.

Royals 4, Mariners 3

Jorge Soler hit a two-run tying blast in the eighth and Ryan O'Hearn delivered the go-ahead single in the ninth as Kansas City edged Seattle at Peoria, Ariz. Robinson Cano and Kyle Seager each had two hits for the Mariners.

Yankees 6, Phillies 4

Miguel Andujar hit two solo homers and left-hander CC Sabathia struck out three in two hitless innings as New York defeated Philadelphia at Clearwater, Fla. Matt McBride had three RBIs and Aaron Altherr homered for the Phillies.

Marlins 3, Mets 2

Eric Campbell smacked the tiebreaking double in the eighth inning as Miami edged New York at Port St. Lucie, Fla. Phillip Evans homered for the Mets.

Pirates 4, Blue Jays 1

Sean Rodriguez and Austin Meadows homered to help Pittsburgh defeat Toronto at Bradenton, Fla. Kevin Pillar went 3-for-3 with an RBI single for the Blue Jays.

Braves (ss) 5, Tigers 2

Austin Riley and Cleuluis Rondon each clubbed two-run homers to lead Atlanta past Detroit at Lakeland, Fla. Nicholas Castellanos and Victor Martinez went deep for the Tigers.

Rangers (ss) 9, Athletics 4

Willie Calhoun homered among three hits to help Texas roll past Oakland at Mesa, Ariz. Khris Davis hit a grand slam for the Athletics.

Angels 11, Giants 4

Matt Thaiss and Colin Walsh homered and Los Angeles racked up 14 hits while beating San Francisco at Scottsdale, Ariz. Right-hander Chris Stratton allowed one hit in three scoreless innings for the Giants.

Orioles 5, Rays 2

Baltimore pushed across runs on a walk, a wild pitch and a sacrifice fly in a three-run seventh inning en route to knocking off Tampa Bay at Port Charlotte, Fla.

Nationals 6, Braves (ss) 2

Spencer Kieboom and Andrew Stevenson each had two RBIs as Washington defeated Atlanta at Kissimmee, Fla., despite the absence of Bryce Harper (ingrown toenail). Braves right-hander Matt Wisler allowed one hit over three scoreless innings.

Brewers 6, Diamondbacks 1

Hernan Perez delivered a three-run triple and Jacob Nottingham hit a two-run double as Milwaukee knocked off Arizona at Scottsdale, Ariz. Right-hander Zack Godley allowed one hit in three scoreless innings for the Diamondbacks.

Reds 8, White Sox 7

Brandon Dixon slugged a tying two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth and Chadwick Tromp lined the decisive two-out single later in the frame as Cincinnati rallied past Chicago at Goodyear, Ariz. Nicky Delmonico and Jose Rondon drove in two runs apiece for the White Sox.

Cardinals 3, Twins 3

Marcell Ozuna homered in the second inning and Jose Martinez drove in the tying run with a double in the eighth as St. Louis tied Minnesota at Jupiter, Fla. Ehire Adrianza hit a two-run homer for the Twins.

Rockies 2, Cubs 2

Sam Hilliard hit a tying two-run homer in the eighth inning to allow Colorado to tie Chicago in a nine-inning affair at Mesa, Ariz. Ian Happ hit a two-run blast for the Cubs.

Padres 9, Rangers (ss) 9

Christian Villanueva hit a grand slam and Wil Myers delivered a solo shot as San Diego played Texas to a nine-inning tie at Surprise, Ariz. Charles Leblanc had three RBIs for the Rangers and recorded the tying two-run single in the bottom of the eighth inning.
