Portland Trail Blazers All-Star guard Damian Lillard is expected to return from a left ankle sprain Saturday night against the Spurs in San Antonio, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

Lillard suffered the injury in Tuesday’s road loss in Dallas and missed the Blazers’ loss in Houston on Thursday night. His ankle has improved since Tuesday, and he will return to help Portland work toward locking up the third seed in the Western Conference standings. The Blazers are 48-31 with three games remaining in the regular season, two games ahead of the fourth-seeded Utah Jazz.

Lillard, 27, made his third NBA All-Star team this season and has played All-NBA-caliber basketball, averaging 26.7 points, 6.6 assists and 4.5 rebounds per game.

Lillard, the 2012-13 Rookie of the Year, was the sixth overall pick by Portland in the 2012 NBA draft out of Weber State.
