Florida high school football: Central vs. Norland headlines top games of Week 8
Norland has been seen as a credible challenger to Miami Central all season.
The Vikings have several Power 5 commits on the roster, an experienced quarterback and currently are ranked No. 1 in Class 2M on the FHSAA’s power rankings.
We’ll find out how worthy a challenger Norland is on Friday when they take on Central in a District 13-2M game at Traz Powell Stadium in Miami.
Norland is 6-0 and the No. 2 team in Class 2M; Central, the defending state champion, is 3-2 and the No. 1 team in the state.
Norland is coming off a 20-19 win against Booker T. Washington. The Vikings trailed 19-7 in the fourth quarter but rallied to pull out the win.
Central, whose two losses are to nationally ranked Bishop Gorman and Chaminade-Madonna, beat rival Northwestern 17-10 last week. The Rockets scored 10 points in the final five minutes of the third quarter to take the lead and held on to win.
