The Ducks, in the midst of seven games in 13 days to finish the season because of COVID-19 makeups, have won three straight and 8 of 9. They were 8 of 12 from 3-point range in the first half, shot 57% (12 of 21) overall in the second half and finished 18 of 22 from the foul line with just seven turnovers. LJ Figueroa scored 14 points and Will Richardson 12 for Oregon (17-5, 12-4), which has won 10 of 12 in the series.
In a game that zig-zagged throughout the half, Oregon took a 40-36 halftime lead after Eugene Omoruyi hit a 3-pointer with 36 seconds left. Arizona held Oregon to just 38.2% shooting but the Ducks hit 8 of 12 3-pointers, scored 12 points off eight UA turnovers and outrebounded the Wildcats 18-16. Chris Duarte led the Ducks with 13 points James Akinjo had eight for Arizona, which shot 52.0% from the field and hit 6 of 13 3-pointers.
James Akinjo scored a career-high 26 points with seven assists, his final one a kick-out to Azuolas Tubelis who converted a baseline jumper for a 75-74 victory over Washington on Saturday. Washington’s Quade Green was called for a charge, and after a timeout by Arizona with 15 seconds left, Akinjo headed into the paint before dishing the ball to Tubelis, who with one foot on the 3-point arc hit the game-winner with 5.2 seconds remaining. Green’s hurried 3-point try at the buzzer was short.
