    The Latest: Florida athletics seeing a rise in COVID cases

    Florida's athletic department is seeing a rise in COVID-19 cases. The school reported 61 new positive cases Tuesday, including six for the football team a little more than a week before its season opener at Ole Miss. The spike in infections coincided with the return of student to campus and the start of classes. The Gators ceased activities with the school's lacrosse and baseball programs due to dozens of positive results.

    New UF WR Justin Shorter granted eligibility waiver

    Shorter, who last season was listed at 6-foot-5, 235 pounds, has prototypical size and impressive pedigree. But he struggled to put the pieces together during two years with the Nittany Lions. The Monmouth Junction, N.J., product caught 12 passes for 137 yards last season as a redshirt freshman at Penn State.

    Tyree Appleby has pretty much locked up the starting point guard role. This isn’t a major surprise, but there was a bit of question regarding who would take over the starting point guard role with the departure of Andrew Nembhard and looks like it’s almost certainly going to be Tyree Appleby. Anyone who saw practice the last season while he was redshirting spoke highly of Appleby’s talent, particularly as a scorer, and the last few weekends of practice have confirmed it.
