Wednesday's Top Prep Performers: Oxnard softball remains unbeaten in Channel League

Highlights from Wednesday in high school sports:

SOFTBALL

  • Baylany Magana pitched a shutout with five strikeouts and was 1 for 2 with a run scored and Jiselle Garcia went 1 for 3 with an RBI to lead first-place Oxnard (12-5-1, 9-0) to a 1-0 victory over Dos Pueblos in a Channel League game.

  • Analia Lopez pitched a three-hit, six-inning shutout with 11 strikeouts and was 2 for 4 with two RBIs at the plate, Jocelyn Gomez went 4 for 4 with a double and two RBIs, Mariah Reyes had a double and three RBIs, Jasmine Reyes hit a solo home run, Jaslene Rios was 2 for 3, and Keira Barry and Ciara Lopez each had a double and an RBI to lead Rio Mesa (18-3, 7-1) to an 11-0 victory over Ventura in a Channel League game. Yaya Landeros, Adrianna Rodriguez and Olivia Marsing had hits for the Cougars (7-7-1, 4-5).

  • On Tuesday, Buena defeated Pacifica 7-4 in a Channel League game. Isabella Rodriguez went 3 for 4 with a double and four RBIs, Madison Shay was 3 for 3 with a double, and Angelina Delgado went 2 for 4 with an RBI for the Bulldogs (6-12, 3-6).

  • Rosy Salazar pitched a one-hit shutout with 16 strikeouts and was 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI at the plate, Cam Kenny went 2 for 4 with two RBIs, Grace Maguire had a home run and two RBIs, and Addi Feola went 1 for 2 with an RBI to lead Grace Brethren (14-1-1, 5-0) to a 12-0 win over Foothill Tech in a Tri-Valley League game.

BASEBALL

  • Boston Bateman allowed one hit and no earned runs while striking out 11 in five innings, Victor Tostado pitched two scoreless innings and was 1 for 3 with an RBI, Tommy Goodin went 4 for 4 with two doubles, a triple and three RBIs, Brayden Smith was 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs, Trotter Enright went 2 for 5 with an RBI, Blaise Meylemans was 1 for 3 with an RBI, and James Miranda finished 2 for 2 to lead Camarillo (13-5, 7-0) to an 11-1 win over Oak Park in a Coastal Canyon League game. Tyler Kutsch went 2 for 4 for the Eagles (4-10, 0-7).

  • Michael Leddy was 1 for 3 with two RBI, AJ Mai went 3 for 4, and Carson Cerny was 1 for 2 with an RBI to lead Moorpark (10-10-1, 4-4-1) to a 4-2 win over Royal in a Coastal Canyon League game. Zach Nagy and Isaiah Tillman each went 2 for 4, Caden Salazar was 1 for 3 with an RBI, and Noah Vasquez was 1 for 4 with an RBI for the Highlanders (15-8, 4-5).

  • Santiago Ramirez pitched a one-hit shutout with three walks and four strikeouts, Ruben Venegas went 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI, Aidan Sanchez was 2 for 3 with an RBI, and Colin Dominguez was 1 for 2 with an RBI to lead Santa Paula (11-7, 9-0) to a 7-0 victory over Malibu in a Citrus Coast League game.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

  • Houston Hull had 11 kills and three blocks, Nolan Higa finished with 25 assists, three kills and three aces, Jake Blaine had nine kills, two blocks and an ace, and Ethan Miller contributed five kills as Newbury Park improved to 7-1 in the Marmonte League with a 25-14, 25-19, 25-23 sweep of Oaks Christian.

BOYS TRACK AND FIELD

  • Ventura defeated San Marcos 95-32 and Pacifica 103-24 and San Marcos defeated Pacifica 81.50-41.50 in a tri-Channel League meet. For Ventura, Henry Hammel won the 1,600 (4:35.41). Luke Carnaghe won the 110 hurdles (15.23) and long jump (21-00.25). Oliver Deleon won the 400 (52.55). Myles Russell won the 100 (11.19). Blake Harris won the 800 (2:00.86). Keegan Graves won the 300 hurdles (42.10). Nathan Lopez won the 3,200 (9:53.52). Antonio DiSilvestri won the pole vault (12-04). Mateo Chavez won the shot put (45-03). Erik MuroMurillo won the discus (138-09). For Pacifica, Anthony Macias won the 200 (23.43) and Douglas King won the triple jump (42-00.75).

  • Oxnard defeated Dos Pueblos 69-58 in a Channel League meet. For Oxnard, Jamell Pace won the 110 hurdles (16.39). Camren Harris won the 100 (11.17) and 200 (22.69). Logan Hernandez won the 300 hurdles (44.06). Caleb Stremcha won the high jump (5-08). Elijah Mitchell won the triple jump (39-09). Luis Aguilera won the shot put (42-09.50) and discus (133-04).

GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD

  • Ventura defeated San Marcos 76-50 and Pacifica 114-12 and San Marcos defeated Pacifica 98-23 in a tri-Channel League meet. For Ventura, Emerson McMeekin won the 1,600 (5:43.23). Jordyn Ward won the 400 (65.39). Melanie True won the 800 (2:15.14). Aelo Curtis won the 3,200 (11:17.69). Valentina Fakrogha won the high jump (5-06). Isabella Di Silvestri won the pole vault (10-03) and long jump (16-03). Emmie Fago won the shot put (32-03). Ava Fernandez won the discus (108-09).

  • Oxnard defeated Dos Pueblos 81-45 in a Channel League meet. For Oxnard, Karina Ponce won the 1,600 (5:38.02). Amia Cason won the 100 hurdles (17.48). Halena Marin won the 400 (60.26). Ryanna Harris won the 100 (12.77) and 200 (26.36). Brianna Richards won the 800 (2:27.95). Elizabeth Mejia won the 300 hurdles (50.91). Valeria Rodriguez won the long jump (16-01.75). Natalie Estrella won the shot put (33-08.25) and discus (92-10).

BOYS SWIMMING

  • Nordhoff defeated Hueneme 86-55 in a Citrus Coast League meet. For Nordhoff, Talen Wingate won the 200 freestyle (2:34.28). Flynn VanAuker won the 200 IM (2:13.01) and 100 backstroke (58.93). Drake Ross won the 50 freestyle (27.09) and 100 freestyle (1:02.82). Cole Prichard won the 100 butterfly (1:12.30). For Hueneme, Jose Lopez won the 500 freestyle (6:45.84) and Erick Medrano won the 100 breaststroke (1:26.41).

GIRLS SWIMMING

  • Nordhoff defeated Hueneme 81-66 in a Citrus Coast League meet. For Nordhoff, Melina Seider won the 200 freestyle (2:07.03) and 500 freestyle (5:31.96). Kirra Fink won the 200 IM (2:49.80) and 100 butterfly (1:16.81). Amelie Pinkernell won the 50 freestyle (27.63) and 100 breaststroke (1:16.38). Jayci Wingate won the 100 freestyle (1:08.07) and 100 backstroke (1:19.62).

GIRLS LACROSSE

  • Reagan Laubner had four goals and an assist, Angela Gambina scored four goals, Elliana Dorsi and Nicole Pirie each had three goals and an assist, Micah Shin scored three goals, Kaylee Meixner had two goals, Sadie Le and Bea Macdonald each had a goal and an assist, and Charli Huber had a goal to lead Newbury Park to a 28-0 victory over Calabasas in a Marmonte League game.

BOYS TENNIS

  • Oak Park defeated Royal 16-2 to improve to 12-0 overall and 6-0 in the Coastal Canyon League.
