Girls lacrosse regionals: Section V sweeps Section VI for 12th straight season

Fairport needed extra lacrosse to win its first Section V title since 2009 but in Saturday’s Class A state quarterfinals, it didn’t take nearly as long.

The Raiders rolled with ease, 18-8, over Section VI champion Lancaster at Clarence High School. The win pushes Fairport’s record to 17-2 and into next weekend’s state semifinals, where it will play at 3 p.m. at Cortland High.

Against Lancaster, Lily Kondas led the scoring with four goals and Makayla Keys and Camryn DuBose each scored three goals. Ava Peers and Katie Mallaber each scored two goals and Jaelyne Twomey and Taylor Frank each made five saves.

Class B

Victor 16, Clarence 2

Victor (15-4) advances to Friday’s state semifinals, where it will play Bethlehem at 11 a.m. at SUNY Cortland. Victor is the defending state champion.

Class C

Honeoye Falls-Lima 22, Lake Shore 9

The Cougars (13-7) scored 16 goals in the first half to advance to Friday’s state semifinals at 3 p.m. at SUNY Cortland.

Clare Ruff scored seven goals and Paige Kidd had four goals and two assists for the Cougars while Shaye Angelo added three goals and three assists. Katie Adams and Rylee Bennett each scored two goals and Lily Brady made four saves.

Class D

Penn Yan 17, Eden 3

The Mustangs (15-4) led 12-1 at the half and advance to Friday’s state semifinals, where they will play at 11 a.m. at Cortland High.

Bailey Cooper scored six goals and assisted on two for Penn Yan while Maihue Miranda-Wiltberger scored four goals. Corinne Barden had two goals and two assists, Gianna Voigt had a goal and three assists and Corinne Barden had two goals and two assists. Marion Wheeler and Megan Wheeler each made two saves.
