Jeff Passan, Tim Brown, Gordon Edes and Steve Henson
Here at Yahoo! Sports Major League baseball preview central, it's standing room only. Check that. It's room for standings only. Our four MLB writers predicted the won-loss records of every team as well as the playoffs and World Series. And you can compare our picks with those from AccuScore (American League, National League), a company that runs thousands of computer simulations of the season to project standings.
As opening day draws closer, we'll continue to trot out content, including our picks for every award from MVP to the first manager fired to the date or A-Rod's return. Next will be the results from our Build-A-Ballclup Workshop, where our writers each choose the owner, general manager, scouting director, field manager, position player, pitcher and prospect they would hire if creating a team from scratch. Look for that story Sunday evening.
And don't miss Jeff Passan's daylong opening day blog Monday as well as continual Big League Stew posts throughout the day, week and season.
Play ball!
As for the projected standings, the Boston Red Sox are picked to reach the World Series by all four experts, and only Tim Brown picks them to lose once they get there. Passan has the Red Sox winning their third championship in six years by beating the Los Angeles Dodgers, Gordon Edes has them besting the New York Mets and Steve Henson has them knocking off the Arizona Diamondbacks. Brown, for his part, has the Chicago Cubs celebrating their first World Series title in 101 years at the expense of the Red Sox.
Jason Fitz is joined by Senior NFL Reporter Charles Robinson and former NFL running back Damien Harris to give their initial thoughts and takeaways from a wild first night of the 2024 NFL Draft. The trio dive into a few standout selections, including plenty of time analyzing what the Atlanta Falcons could possibly be thinking by taking Michael Penix Jr, J.J. McCarthy and Drake Maye and their respective fits with the Minnesota Vikings and New England Patriots, why Tennessee Titans fans should be ecstatic about the J.C. Latham pick, Xavier Worthy's instant impact potential with the Kansas City Chiefs and why the Las Vegas Raiders took a tight end in the first round two years in a row.
The NFL world shook with the news of the Bills trading star receiver Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans. Matt Harmon analyzes the move for fantasy football.
