Report: Charlie Weis to hire former Kansas assistant John Reagan as offensive coordinator

Kansas has won just four games in Charlie Weis’ two seasons as head coach, and now it appears that Weis will be making some changes to his staff.

The Lawrence Journal-World is reporting that Rice offensive coordinator John Reagan, a former KU assistant on Mark Mangino’s staff, will be hired to serve the role as offensive coordinator and offensive line coach. Current o-line coach Tim Grunhard will step down, the report added.

The move will allow Weis “to focus entirely on running the program as head coach, a role that entails recruiting, motivating players on the field and in the classroom, instilling discipline and challenging assistants in a variety of ways,” the report said.

A Kansas spokesperson wouldn't confirm or deny the Journal-World’s report.

Prior to joining the staff at Rice, Reagan spent five seasons at Kansas as the offensive line coach and run game coordinator. He also coached at Temple, Air Force, Akron, Army, Pennsylvania and Oklahoma State.

The Jayhawks (3-8) host Kansas State in Saturday's season finale.
