Vote for the Oklahoma City-area boys high school athlete of the week

The Oklahoman's winter sport athletes of the week poll for Jan. 30-Feb. 5 presented by Landmark Fine Homes is now live at oklahoman.com.

The Oklahoman is also introducing polls for a girls team of the week and a boys team of the week.

Voting is open until noon Sunday. You don't have to be a subscriber to vote, and you can cast one vote every hour, per device.

The winners of the Jan. 23-29 poll were Carter RomanNose of El Reno boys basketball and Jace Province of Deer Creek boys wrestling.

Boys teams of the week

Crossings Christian basketball: The Knights have been on a tear over the past month, winning nine of their last 11 games heading into February. They're led by star guard Cal Furnish, who recently eclipsed 1,000 career points for the program as a junior.

Douglass basketball: The reigning Class 4A champion Trojans have won 11 consecutive games and 36 in a row against Oklahoma competition. With the star addition of Jaden Nickens alongside Landry Ballard, Davon Scott and Jaden Williams, Douglass is in prime position to make yet another deep postseason run.

Edmond North swimming: The Huskies are the defending champions in Class 6A. They proved they’re still a strong contender Saturday in Edmond as they claimed the West Regional title.

Edmond North wrestling: The Class 6A Huskies are one of the top-ranked teams in the country and have dominated their competition this season. They’ll try to claim their first dual state title since 2013 this week in Enid.

Guthrie basketball: The Bluejays have been on a tear after an underwhelming season a year ago. Guthrie currently sit second in District 5A-1 at 17-3 behind the play of its stellar duo of Braydon Morgan and Alex Clark.

Boys basketball

Trashaun Combs-Pierce, Sr., Norman: The Tigers have won 10 games in a row behind the electric play of its 6-foot-7 forward. He helped extend Norman's win streak on Friday, scoring 22 points with eight rebounds, five assists and four blocks.

Dylan Davidson, Sr., Perkins-Tryon: This week Davidson became the second player in Demons program history to score 1,000 points. The two-sport star also committed to play football at Emporia State on Monday.

DeShawn Denson, Jr., Midwest City: Denson scored 20 points in the Bombers' close win over rival Del City on Friday. The sophomore has been instrumental for Midwest City as a key force beside Roy Henderson and Carlsheon Young.

Jaden Nickens, Jr., Douglass: The four-star OU football commit has was dominant in his Trojans debut on Friday. Nickens scored 25 points in Douglass' win over Class 3A's second-ranked Victory Christian, extending their win streak to 11 games.

Boys swimming

Bobby Cunningham, Sr., Putnam North: He finished just past Edmond North’s Collin Ho in the 100-yard breaststroke at the Class 6A West Regional in Edmond on Saturday, winning by 0.09 seconds. Cunningham recorded a time of 1:03.05 for the title.

Garrett Levendofsky, Sr., Edmond North: He won four titles at the Class 6A West Regional and helped Edmond North claim the team title. Levendofsky competed in the 100 freestyle (47.47), 200 individual medley (1:55.90), 200 freestyle relay (1:29.24) and 400 freestyle relay (3:20.34).

Owen Ramirez, Sr., Carl Albert: His top individual performance at the Class 5A West Regional in Edmond on Saturday was in the 50 freestyle as he placed third in 23.02. Ramirez also played a big role in Carl Albert’s wins in the 200 freestyle relay (1:33.42) and 400 freestyle relay (3:28.59) as the Titans claimed the regional championship.

Thomas Rudnicki, Sr., Casady: He claimed two titles at the Class 5A West Regional as he finished the 50 freestyle in 22.64 and 100 freestyle in 50.36.
