BASEBALL

West De Pere 8, De Pere 2

DE PERE - Logan Wierzba was 3-for-3 with two RBI, Drew Van Oss was 2-for-4 with an RBI and Zac Wotruba homered to lead the Phantoms to the nonconference win.

West De Pere struck for three in the first, one in the second, two in the third and two in the fourth.

Wierzba got the win on the mound, pitching five strong innings, allowing only three hits, three walks and striking out three batters.

The Redbirds scored their two runs in the third.

Landon Raygo led De Pere, going 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Denmark 10, Freedom 3

DENMARK - Grant Schroeder gave up two runs on four hits over six innings to lead the Vikings to the win over the Irish.

Leading 1-0, Denmark broke open the game with a five-run fifth inning. Garrett Taicher and Cade Delarwelle had run-scoring doubles in the inning.

Matt Eberhardt and Drew Kortz had two hits for Freedom.

Drew Shepard took the loss, striking out eight over four innings.

Denmark improved to 7-3 overall and 6-2 in conference play. Freedom is 7-6 overall and 3-5 in conference play.

Little Chute 3, Wrightstown 0

WRIGHTSTOWN - The Mustangs struck for three runs in the top of the eighth inning to outlast the Tigers in North Eastern Conference action.

Charlie Vanden Burgt picked up the win, pitching all eight innings and allowing four hits and one walk while striking out nine.

Vanden Burgt, Grant Van Gompel and Rowen Schmidt all drove in runs for Little Chute, while Noah Faccio was 2-for-3.

Caleb Podgorski started for Wrightstown, pitching seven innings and allowing just three hits and one walk while striking out five.

Sturgeon Bay 4-5, Algoma 3-4

STURGEON BAY - The Clippers rallied for four runs in the bottom of the seventh in the nightcap to earn the Packerland Conference doubleheader sweep.

The rally was sparked by pinch-hitter Rex Brusky, who singled, followed by a Trey VanderLeest walk and another Patrick Haese single to load the bases. Bryce Plzak then tied the game with a double. After a mound visit, Bryce’s brother Caleb laced the game-winning hit.

“Tonight was great baseball by both teams,” Sturgeon Bay coach Neal Henrigillis said. “Algoma has a phenomenal team, and their pitchers did a great job. This was a fantastic night of Packerland Conference baseball. Fortunately, we came out on top with some gritty at-bats by guys like Rex Brusky and Patrick Haese and, of course, phenomenal pitching to keep us in it the entire game.”

In the opener, the Clippers scored two runs in the third and two in the fourth to hold off Algoma. The Wolves scored twice in the third and once in the fourth.

Grant Vandervest, Carson Leist and Parker Lischka had two hits each for Algoma.

Sturgeon Bay is now 7-2 and 5-1 in Packerland play, while the Wolves fall to 5-5 and 5-3 in the league.

Oconto 18-11, NEW Lutheran 4-0

GREEN BAY - The Blue Devils set in the tone early, scoring 10 runs on seven hits in the first inning in the win over the Blazers in the first game of the doubleheader.

Brayden Gard got the win for Oconto in the first game.

Oconto completed the doubleheader sweep as Ethan Wusterbarth threw a one-hitter in the second game.

SOFTBALL

Notre Dame 16, Green Bay Southwest 5

GREEN BAY - Kaia Waldrop was 3-for-3 with five RBI and two runs scored to lead the Tritons to the victory.

Ava Massey added two hits and three RBI, and Madeline Hilts had a triple and an RBI for Notre Dame.

Addy Simpson was the winning pitcher. She pitched five innings, allowed five runs (one earned) and struck out three.

Southwest was led by Ella Crowley, Dekora VonHaden and Addison Guslick, who each had two hits and an RBI.

Green Bay Preble 2, Pulaski 1

GREEN BAY - The Hornets won a pitchers’ duel at Finger Road Park.

Preble’s Katie Geydoshek limited the Raiders to five hits, while Pulaski’s Morgan Vertz scattered six hits. Geydoshek struck out 10 batters and Vertz struck out four.

Tenley Kuehn had both RBI for the Hornets, while Sam Foytik recorded two hits.

Molly Molthen and Vertz each had two hits for Pulaski.

West De Pere 4, Menasha 3

MENASHA - The Phantoms scored four runs in the fifth inning and then held on to defeat the Bluejays.

Kailey Fink, Mallory DeMoulin and Emily Venden each had two hits for West De Pere.

Addie Lund had two hits and Taylor Papendorf hit a home run for Menasha. Kelsie Mohr and Teagen Massey-Plamann each had a double.

Lily Bukoske pitched a complete game to get the win for West De Pere. Gabrielle Farr took the loss for Menasha.

Algoma 13-17, Sturgeon Bay 0-1

ALGOMA - The Wolves put on their hitting shoes as they earned a doubleheader sweep over the Clippers in Packerland Conference action.

In the opener, Nora Krause and Hannah Nell scored three runs, while Megan Zimmer scored twice.

Jaydn Nellis tripled, homered and scored a pair of runs as well.

In the circle, Macie Zimmerman registered 10 strikeouts as she earned the win.

In the nightcap, Ryley Zimmerman and Brooke Mattson scored three runs each, while Zimmer added a home run.

Annika Schoeneman scored Sturgeon Bay’s lone run.

Southern Door 4-5, Peshtigo 2-7

BRUSSELS - The Eagles and Bulldogs earned a split of their Packerland Conference doubleheader.

In Game 1, Alanah Kaye had two hits to lead the Southern Door offense and pitched three innings of relief with six strikeouts to get the win.

Cameron Finger had two hits for Peshtigo, while Nevaeh Russell took the loss in the circle.

In the nightcap, Lainie Weddell pitched a complete game to earn the win, striking out five.

Sam LaCoursiere had two hits to lead the Bulldogs’ offense.

Leading the Southern Door offense were Sophia Counard with two triples and three RBI, and Isabella Price and Alexis Tassoul with two hits apiece.

Kaye took the loss in the circle.

Bay Conference Quadrangular

BOYS

SEYMOUR 94, GREEN BAY EAST 77, GREEN BAY WEST 37, MENASHA 35

Green Bay East’s Keith Gibson won both the 100- and 200-meter dashes with times of :11.83 and :24.29, respectively.

Seymour’s Aidan Court won the long jump with a leap of 18-2 and the high jump at a height of 5-8.

The Menasha quartet of Hayden McGuire, Wyatt Jannusch, Isaac Johnson and Shamir Senyange won the 400- and 800-meter relays, taking first with times of :49.05 and 1:43.45, respectively.

Green Bay West’s Donovan Beauchamp, who won the 800 in 2:08.89, teamed with Juan Pablo Flores Torres, John Moravet and Ephraim Rogina to win the 3,200 relay in 9:48.70.

GIRLS

GREEN BAY EAST 101.5, GREEN BAY WEST 76.5, SEYMOUR 44, MENASHA 24

Green Bay East’s Lakeria Gonnigan was victorious in both the 100- and 300-meter hurdles, winning with times of :17.35 and :51.43, respectively. Gonnigan was also part of the winning 800 relay team, joining Mya Collins, Jada Nelson and Faith Weatherspoon to take first with a time of 1:51.60.

Nelson, who also won the 400 with a time of 1:18.70, teamed with Avyona Hackner, Amya Weatherspoon and Phantayza Hackney to win the 400 relay with a time of :55.59. Nelson, Kaela Mubanga, Katherine Hanson and Zola Kambandu-Schilz took first in the 1,600 relay in 5:16.14. Kambandu-Schilz won the high jump at a height of 4-10. Else Wenz won the 3,200 in 14:55.30 and ran with Cynthia Coronado Delgadillo, Katherine Hanson and Ella Lutz to win the 3,200 relay in 12:17.25.

Green Bay West’s Adriana Moyano won the pole vault with a height of 10-0. She also won the long and triple jumps, taking first with jumps of 16-9 and 33-5.75, respectively.

Gillett/Suring Invitational

BOYS

COLEMAN 192, BONDUEL 126.5, SURING 110, CRIVITZ 103, LENA/ ST. THOMAS ACADEMY 71, GILLETT 38, LAONA/WABENO 9.5

Coleman’s Victor Kostreva swept the 110- and 300-meter hurdles events with times of :15.64 and 40.93, respectively. Kostreva also won the pole vault at a height of 12-0 and the high jump with a jump of 5-6.

Bonduel’s Owen Springborn was a double winner in the relays, teaming with Gage Anderson, Tristin Bierhals and Gage Scholl to win the 800 relay in 1:44.86 and joining with Sam Roberts, Griffin Uelmen and Ryan Westrich to win the 1,600 relay in 3:45.34. Westrich added a first-place finish by winning the discus with a throw of 131-0. Roberts took first in the long jump with a jump of 20-7.5 and the triple jump with a leap of 40-10.5.

Bradyn Wendorff won the 3,200 in 10:34.64 and teamed with Scott Herroux, Nash Stage and Ben Matczak of Gillett to win the 3,200 relay in 9:12.55.

GIRLS

BONDUEL 161.25, SURING 157, LENA/ST. THOMAS ACADEMY 126, GILLETT 70, CRIVITZ 68.25, COLEMAN 54, LAONA/WABENO 30.5

Bonduel’s Paige Niquette picked up wins in the 100 and 200 meters with times of :13.68 and :28.37, respectively. Niquette, Cierra Schnell, Addison Raymakers and Audrey Weier won the 800 relay with a time of 1:58.70. Ashlyn Kurey won the 400 in 1:04.50 and the triple jump with a jump of 32-0.5. Mariah Wondra won the 1,600 and 3,200 with times of 5:43.71 and 12:20.89, respectively. Wondra and Kurey were joined by Teagan Engle and Cierra Schnell in winning 3,200 relay with a time of 10:41.55.

Coleman’s Kiersten Jensen won the shot put and discus with a put of 30-11 and a discus throw of 122-0, respectively.

Lena/St. Thomas Academy’s Eva Brooks won the 100 hurdles with a time of :17.27 and the high jump at a height of 5-5.

Crivitz’s Kyla Betka won the pole vault at a height of 9-0 and teamed with Grace Doyen, Peyton Rehberg and Madelyn Pouwels to win the 400 with a time of :55.45.

Suring’s Tessa Losurdo was part of the quartet with Morgan Suring, Lexi Remic and Bunny Cramer that won the 1,600 relay with a time of 4:42.80. She also won the 300 hurdles in :50.91.

Pulaski 4, Sheboygan South 0

PULASKI - Ellie Mangold had three goals to lead the Red Raiders to the win over the Redwings.

Josie Steeno scored Pulaski’s other goal.

Sydney Hakes had four saves in goal for Pulaski.

Peshtigo 10, Clintonville 0

PESHTIGO - Audra Bauman scored four goals and Lauren Ahrndt added three goals in the Bulldogs’ win over the Truckers.

AnaLisa Beaumont, Alexis Newbury and Melanie Behnke each scored one goal for Peshtigo.

Lucy Lemire had two saves in goal for Peshtigo.
