Report: Hornets add three to list of GM candidates

The Charlotte Hornets appear ready to begin interviewing candidates to replace general manager Rich Cho, who was fired last month.

The NBA team has received permission to speak with Philadelphia 76ers vice president of player personnel Marc Eversley, Houston Rockets executive VP of basketball operations Gersson Rosas and Miami Heat assistant GM Adam Simon, according to a report from ESPN.

Eversley joined the Sixers in 2016 after executive roles with the Washington Wizards and Toronto Raptors. Rosas has worked 17 seasons with the Rockets, and Simon is in his 23rd season in Miami.

Multiple reports have tabbed former Los Angeles Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak as the front-runner for the job. Kupchak and team owner Michael Jordan share University of North Carolina backgrounds, as does assistant GM Buzz Peterson, who is currently running the team's day-to-day operations.

The Hornets haven't won a playoff series since 2002 and made only one trip to the postseason in four years under Cho.
