Rangers' Odor, Fister land on 10-day DL
The Texas Rangers will have to do without second baseman Rougned Odor and right-handed starting pitcher Doug Fister until late next week at the earliest. Both were placed on the 10-day disabled list on Tuesday.
Odor left Monday's game against the Los Angeles Angels with a strained left hamstring. After drawing a walk, he was going back to first on a flyout when he was hurt. Odor could be out for up to three weeks, while Fister is expected to miss two to three weeks.
Odor, 24, is batting .206 (7-for-34) with four RBIs in 11 games this season.
Fister, who is in his first season with the Rangers, has a right hip strain, the team said Tuesday. He was the losing pitcher on Monday, giving up three runs in six innings, including a solo home run to the Angels' Albert Pujols.
In three starts this season, Fister is 1-2 with a 3.95 ERA.
Bartolo Colon will replace Fister in the rotation for a Sunday start against the Houston Astros. Jurickson Profar is expected to see much of the playing time for Odor, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
The Rangers filled the roster spots with right-handed pitcher Tony Barnette, who was reinstated from the 10-day DL, and with infielder-catcher Isiah Kiner-Falefa, who was recalled from the Rangers' Triple-A affiliate in Round Rock, Texas.
Barnette, 34, had been sidelined due to back soreness, and he made three rehab appearances for Double-A Frisco in the past week, tossing a total of three scoreless innings. Last year, he went 2-1 with two saves and a 5.49 ERA in 50 relief appearances for Texas.
Kiner-Falefa, 23, has no major league experience. He hit .288 in 129 games for Frisco last year, and he was off to a 3-for-15 (.200) start for Round Rock this year.
