Olivet baseball stays perfect in CAAC White, Williamston softball wins share of CAAC Red title

BASEBALL

OLIVET 8, CHARLOTTE 7 / OLIVET 6, CHARLOTTE 2

Lalo Aguirre picked up the win in game one and went a combined 4-for-7 with four RBI and three runs scored to lead the Eagles to a CAAC White sweep of Charlotte. Jackson Sinclair notched four hits and had two RBI and Bryce Wine chipped in two hits and three runs scored for Olivet (18-3, 9-0). Landon Jackson and Aaron Brown each finished with three hits and Nathan Penfield tacked on two hits for the Orioles.

LANSING CATHOLIC 11, LAKEWOOD 4 / LANSING CATHOLIC 7, LAKEWOOD 5

Drew Tolfree and Drew Diehl each picked up a win on the mound for the Cougars in their CAAC White sweep. Ty Trahey notched four hits, including a double, and scored three runs, while Diehl finished with five hits and four RBI and Alex Fernandez tacked on four hits and three RBI for Lansing Catholic. Landon Makley tallied a team-best four hits and four RBI for the Vikings.

ST. JOHNS 5, WILLIAMSTON 3 / WILLIAMSTON 3, ST. JOHNS 1

Austin Beals notched the victory on the mound for the Redwings as they split the CAAC Red doubleheader with Williamston. Logan Keilen picked up two RBI, Brandon Schomisch tallied hits and a triple and Jordan Huhn tacked on two hits, two runs and a RBI for St. Johns. Ben Convey, Hunter Harding and Miles Keener each finished with a RBI for the Hornets.

CORUNNA 1, OWOSSO 0

Caleb Fields picked up two hits for the Trojans in a narrow defeat in extra innings to Corunna. Blake Binger, Carson Moore and Austin Blaha each tacked on a hit for Owosso.

BOYS GOLF

PERRY 195, DANSVILLE 206

Dansville’s Bailey Lytle finished as the runner-up with his round of 44.

FLUSHING 148, OWOSSO 166

Ryan Dahl notched a team-best 38 for Owosso in a loss to Flushing. Jon Mazza picked up 40 and Owen Feldpausch chipped in 42 for Owosso.

GIRLS SOCCER

LAKEWOOOD 4, EVERETT 3

Ruth Francois had two goals and Esther Francois had a goal and an assist for Everett in its nonleague loss.

OWOSSO 1, ORTONVILLE BRANDON 0

Izzy Jameson hit the penalty kick to give the Trojans a Flint Metro League victory over Ortonville Brandon. Jameson finished with two saves and Adeline Mahoney tallied four saves for Owosso.

SOFTBALL

WILLIAMSTON 12, ST. JOHNS 4 / WILLIAMSTON 12, ST. JOHNS 1

Jaiden Griffith finished 7-for-8 with a home run, triple and two doubles and scored seven runs while helping the Hornets to a CAAC Red sweep. Griffith also earned the pitching win in the opener. Thean Fortin had a double, triple and home and drove in four and struck out five while recording the win in the finale for Williamston, which secured at least a share of the CAAC Red title.

LESLIE 10, HOMER 0 / LESLIE 6, HOMER 2

Ada Bradford fired a one-hitter and struck out 11 in five innings and the opener and followed with 15 strikeouts in the finale for Leslie in its sweep. Bradford also had a home run and drove in four in the opener, while M. Ream and K. Adair had home runs in the second game for the Blackhawks. Myah Fletcher added four doubles in the twinbill for Leslie.

LANSING CATHOLIC 8, LAKEWOOD 5 / LAKEWOOD 9, LANSING CATHOLIC 8

Taylor Dunneback led the Cougars by going a combined 5-for-8 with a double, two home runs and six RBI in their CAAC White split with Lakewood. Zoey Gruber picked up the win in game one, pitching seven innings with 14 strikeouts and Avery Dunneback and Mary Poljan each had a homer for Lansing Catholic. Lily Federau led the Vikings with two home runs and Allison Slater hit a walk-off home run in game two for Lakewood.

DEWITT 1, HOLT 1

DEWITT — In a game that started Tuesday and concluded Wednesday due to weather, Brooke Alberts scored off a corner kick in the second half to help Holt pull even to earn the CAAC Blue draw. Taylor Croslan made three saves for Holt (6-4-2, 3-2-1).

Gerlande Bellegarde and the team of Ashlyn Bemke and Kenadie Croskey each won in straight sets as the Cavaliers picked up a Flint Metro League victory over Owosso.

BOYS TRACK AND FIELD

WILLIAMSTON 97, FOWLERVILLE 40

WILLIAMSTON — Hudson Hunt (110, 300 hurdles), Daniel Wilson (1,600, 3,200) and Noah Pfeifle (100, 200) were double individual winners for Williamston in its CAAC Red win. Jacob Esch won the shot put and discus for Fowlerville.

WILLIAMSTON — Nicole Schafer won he 800, 1,600 and high jump to lead Williamston in its CAAC Red win. Fiona Gitulli won the long jump, 100 and 200 for Fowlerville.
