The Post's Athlete of the Week: Vote on this week's best high school sports performances

Welcome to Athlete of the Week voting from The Palm Beach Post!

The poll is open until noon Friday.

Congratulations to our last winner, Cain DuBois of St. John Paul II Academy. DuBois became the first freshman in program history to tally 50 goals in his first high-school season.

Each winner will be awarded a one-of-a-kind Athlete of the Week shirt provided by BSN SPORTS. Winners will be contacted weekly. Nominees are accepted via email or phone, but will be selected by staff in the absence of submission.

Baseball: Jack Doucette, Berean Christian -- Senior tallied a double and a triple in addition to drawing two walks in a victory over Sheridan Hills Christian

Softball: Bryanna Ariza Mercedes, John I. Leonard -- Senior pitched two innings with five strikeouts in addition to going 4-for-4 at the plate with two home-runs, one of which was a grand slam

Boys lacrosse: Trevor Buffone, Boca Raton -- Senior captain tallied five points during the Bobcat's first regional win in a decade after eclipsing 100 goals for his career

Girls lacrosse: Gabriella Palomba, Jupiter -- Junior scored three goals and tallied an assist in a regional quarterfinals win over Palmetto

Track and field: Thalia Waters, Atlantic -- Senior placed first in the girls 100-meter event at districts with a 12.16 time
