Nashville Predators 3, New Jersey Devils 2: Ryan O'Reilly wins it in shootout

The Nashville Predators beat the New Jersey Devils 3-2 on Sunday at the Prudential Center, moving within one point of clinching a playoff spot.

The Predators found themselves down 1-0 early after Jack Hughes sent the first shot of the game over Juuse Saros' shoulder. Later in the first, Roman Josi powered a slap shot past Kaapo Kahkonen to tie the game. Kahkonen was injured on the play, bringing Jake Allen came in to replace him in net.

After a scoreless second period, Chris Tierney gave the Devils a 2-1 lead after a misplayed pass between Saros and Ryan McDonagh. But Luke Evangelista tied the game with a power play goal - his 16th score of the year - with 7:15 left in the game.

The teams traded chances in the overtime period, but the game was eventually decided in the shootout. Ryan O'Reilly scored the only goal, with Juuse Saros making all three shootout saves.
