McAuley falls to Exeter at Joe Becker

Apr. 25—McAuley Catholic saw Exeter score five runs in the final three frames to pull away for a 7-1 win over the Warriors on Wednesday night at Joe Becker Stadium in Joplin.

McAuley (3-11) scored its only run in the home half of the fourth inning to make it 2-1 but couldn't produce any more offense.

Four of Exeter's seven runs were unearned as McAuley committed five errors in the loss.

The Warriors got six innings of work out of starting pitcher Rocco Bazzano-Joseph. He only allowed six runs — three earned — on five hits and one walk. Bazzano-Joseph also struck out nine Tigers.

Brek Sickman surrendered one unearned run recording the final three outs. He didn't give up any hits but walked one batter and struck out two.

Tripp Miller's 2-for-3 day at the plate led McAuley. Miller was the lone Warrior to cross the plate as well. The team only registered four hits.

Exeter (9-7) managed five hits and was led by Kason Crowe (2 for 4) and Kason Nelson (2 for 3). Nelson drove in two runs and scored twice himself. Crowe led the team with three runs scored. Kronikel Lokot also had two RBIs for Exeter.
