Knicks sign Mamadi Diakite, Brandon Goodwin; waive Nathan Knight

The Knicks announced Thursday that they signed Mamadi Diakite and Brandon Goodwin to Exhibit 10 contracts.

Diakite, 26, is a center/forward who spent last season with the Cleveland Cavaliers. In 22 games played (two starts), Diakite averaged eight minutes and three points per game. He also had stints with the Oklahoma City Thunder during the 2021-22 season where he appeared in 13 games (three starts) and in 14 games (one start) with the Milwaukee Bucks in 2020-21.

Over his career, Diakite is averaging 3.2 points, 2.5 rebounds over 10.3 minutes in 49 total games.

Goodwin, 28, last appeared in an NBA game with the Cavaliers during the 2021-22 season. That season, he appeared in 36 games (five starts) where he averaged 4.8 points, 1.9 rebounds over 13.9 minutes.

Prior to that, the guard played a total of 97 games with the Atlanta Hawks and Denver Nuggets from 2018-2021. His career averages are 4.7 points, 1.9 assists, 1.6 rebounds over 12.1 minutes in 133 total games (11 starts).

The Knicks also announced they waived forward Nathan Knight. The 26-year-old appeared in two preseason games with the Knicks. On Oct. 17 against the Boston Celtics, Knight scored one point and dished one assist in four minutes of play. And then on Oct. 9 against the Celtics, again, he scored three points and grabbed one rebound in five minutes of play.

In 108 total games played between 2020-2023, Knight has career averages of 3.7 points, 1.5 rebounds, 0.3 assists over 7.8 minutes with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Hawks.

With the moves, the Knicks have two open two-way contracts spots on the roster. The Knicks begin their 2023-24 campaign Wednesday, Oct. 25 against the Celtics.
