Knee injury sidelines Nuggets' Harris

Denver Nuggets guard Gary Harris is expected to miss several games because of a right knee injury, head coach Michael Malone told reporters Saturday.

Harris, 23, is averaging 17.7 points per game this season to lead the Nuggets. He was injured Thursday night against the Detroit Pistons when he landed awkwardly after a foul on a fast-break attempt.

Malone said Harris could miss "three or four games" because of the injury. The coach expressed optimism that Harris could return to action during Denver's seven-game road trip that runs through the end of March.

Denver's upcoming opponents include the Miami Heat on Monday, the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday and the Washington Wizards on Friday. If Harris remains sidelined, Will Barton likely will start at shooting guard.
