Kevin Durant would love to see Bronny James play basketball in college
When it comes to Bronny James‘ future, the eldest son of LeBron James hasn’t publically stated his intentions after graduating from Sierra Canyon High School this year.
But Kevin Durant has a suggestion: Take the college route.
Bronny, who is considered a four-star recruit by ESPN, is leaning toward playing in college, according to his parents. He has received interest from several programs and apparently has a list of three preferred schools: Ohio State, Oregon and USC.
He attended a Buckeyes football game in September with his parents and it is his only known visit at this time. With his high school days winding down, though, that will likely change in the near future. He has also been offered by Kentucky, Memphis and Michigan.
Durant, speaking on “The ETCs” podcast, advocated for Bronny to play in college over the various professional options, such as the G League Ignite or Overtime Elite.
I would love to see Bronny in college instead of going the other route. I want to, in real-time, see what he is doing and follow his journey. When you go to OTE and the Ignite, you just go away for a year.
Of course, Durant played one season at Texas and was the consensus College Player of the Year in 2007. He believes playing in college still carries weight versus playing professionally and that there is still value in performing well in the NCAA Tournament.

Bronny, who is listed at 6 feet, 4 inches, is the No. 28 recruit in the class of 2023 in ESPN’s rankings. He recently drew a comparison to Jrue Holiday by former three-time All-Star Gilbert Arenas for his ability to score and be a lockdown defender.
He has improved each year in high school and is now considered to be a potential first-round pick next year. There is still some debate if he can eventually develop into a star, but the guard has made tremendous strides so far.
Durant will be closely watching him wherever he goes next.
I saw Bronny laying the ball up a couple of years ago and now I see him taking off everywhere. His body developed. I feel like we’ve been watching him since he was two, three years old so to see where he is now, I’m rooting for him. Hopefully, he gets to play with Bron at some point.
With his high school career winding down, Bronny figures to have a big decision to make regarding his future. However, it is becoming increasingly likely that college will be in his future.
