Ellender's Marcel voted Midseason Baseball Player of the Year in Houma- and Thibodaux-area

The poll has closed and the midseason baseball player of the year in Houma- and Thibodaux-area high schools is A.J. Ellender's Michael Marcel.

Marcel, an infielder and pitcher, is one of two seniors on the Patriots' roster and has helped lead Ellender through a tumultuous time in program history, with the Patriots losing their home field for nearly three years due to Hurricane Ida. He received a whopping 47.08% of the vote.

South Terrebonne first baseman Logan Mallard finished as the runner-up, with 36.49% of the vote. Lefthanded pitcher Cole Simoneaux of Assumption finished in a distant third place with 7.85% of the vote.
