49ers land near top of NFL Network’s NFC win-total projections

The highly-anticipated start of the NFL season is officially just days away. With the opening kickoff looming, predictions for the upcoming 2022-23 NFL campaign are starting to come in hot.

Using a load of data, different analytical models and looking back at previous NFL seasons from history, NFL Network Analytics Expert Cynthia Frelund released win-total projections for the upcoming NFL season. On the NFC side, the San Francisco 49ers landed near the top.

The 49ers stood at No. 2 on the projections, trailing only the Philadelphia Eagles with 10.9 projected wins. The Eagles topped the list with 11.1 wins. when writing about her projection with the 49ers, Frelund keyed on the return of a healthy Deebo Samuel.

As we head into this fantasy football season, I feel like some people are forgetting about how awesome a healthy Deebo Samuel is — but not this analyst! Deebo cruises past 750 receiving yards in 59.4 percent of my models. I project he’ll nearly reach 1,000 and he’s my WR16.

After their season came to an end with a ticket to the postseason, the 49ers finished the 2022-23 season with a 13-4 record in the regular season. The 49ers have finished with double-digit wins in three of the last four seasons under Kyle Shanahan.

The 49ers’ new season is set to kick off on Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers at 10 a.m. PT.
