Florida State 48, Boston College 34

BOSTON -- Eighth-ranked Florida State spotted Boston College a 14-point lead, then roared back behind redshirt freshman quarterback Jameis Winston and cruised to a 48-34 road victory on Saturday.

Winston threw for 330 yards and four touchdowns, including a 55-yard bomb to Kenny Shaw on the final play of the first half, and also ran for 74 yards in outdueling counterpart Chase Rettig as Florida State moved to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the ACC.

Rettig threw a career-high four touchdown passes, two to tight end C.J. Pasons, but it wasn't enough as the rebuilding Eagles, in their first season under Steve Addazio, fell to 2-2 (1-1 ACC) with their second straight loss. Rettig led his team on a late rally, but BC didn't get closer than the final outcome.

BC, which has lost 11 straight games to ranked teams, has allowed 83 points in the last two games.

The Eagles led 17-3 less than four minutes into the second quarter before Winston hit Rashad Greene with a 56-yard touchdown pass that began the FSU onslaught.

The Seminoles have outscored their four opponents 205-60, but BC scored more than the first three foes combined.

BC's Andre Williams, the ACC's rushing leader coming into the game, ran for 149 yards on 28 carries.

Winston, who threw his second interception of the season in the fourth quarter, finished 17 of 28 with an interception.

Rettig finished 19 of 29 for 197 yards and two interceptions.

Parsons scored his first career touchdown and Jake Sinkovec his second to help BC build the early lead.

Williams had surpassed 100 yards rushing in the second quarter, but the ‘Noles kept nine men on the line of scrimmage and shut him down. BC did little to adjust.

Florida State got the ball at its own 40 with 50 seconds left in the first half. Winston was sacked on first down, Devonta Freeman carried for 13 yards and then Winston, taking the snap as the clock was going from :01 to :00, got away from another sack and threw the perfect TD pass to Shaw from 55 yards.
