Who will win the 2024 PGA Championship? Odds for golf's second major of the year
PGA Championship week is here, just over one month after the conclusion of the Masters.
In total, a maximum of 156 golfers could enter the competition field of the second major tournament of the year. Sixteen previous champions are expected to compete in this year's PGA Championship, and LIV Golf is expected to have 16 golfers participate after sending 13 golfers to the Masters this year.
As things stand at the beginning of the week, Masters champion Scottie Scheffler is a significant favorite to win his second major of the year. Trailing him is Northern Irish golfer Rory McIlroy, who enters the weekend fresh off of a win at the Wells Fargo Championship one week ago.

1. Scottie Scheffler (+450)
Scheffler established himself as the current best golfer in the world when he took care of business all four days at the Masters this year. He won by four strokes after shooting a 4-under 68 on the last day. As the world No. 1 golfer according to the Official World Golf Ranking for the last 87 weeks, Scheffler is an unsurprising favorite.
2. Rory McIlroy (+750)
McIlroy is No. 2 in the Official World Golf Ranking entering this week and just won a tournament: last week's Wells Fargo Championship. He's one of the top golfers in the world right now and is joining this competition hot off of a win, which puts the Northern Irish golfer comfortably among favorites
T-3. Brooks Koepka (+1400)
Koepka does not rank in the top 10 of golfers going into this week (he's No. 39), but he won this major by two strokes last year over the likes of Viktor Hovland and Scheffler. This year, the American golfer comes into the tournament two weeks after capturing his fourth LIV Golf tournament win, this time in Singapore.
T-3. Xander Schauffele (+1400)
After finishing second to McIlroy in the Wells Fargo Championship last weekend, Schauffele jumped to No. 3 in the Official World Golf Ranking. He's had a solid year so far with a runner-up performance to Scheffler at the Players Championship in March and a top-10 finish in the Masters last month. At 30, Schauffele is still looking to get over the hump and win his first major. His best finish at the PGA Championship was tied for 10th in 2020.
T-5. Ludvig Åberg (+1800)
The 24-year-old Swedish golfer who turned pro last year is off to a very strong start in 2024. He finished one stroke behind Wyndham Clark at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am in February, eighth in the Players Championship in March and was runner-up to Scheffler in the Masters one month ago, losing by four strokes after shooting a 3-under 69 in the final round.
T-5. Jon Rahm (+1800)
Other than in a disappointing showing at the Masters, Rahm has yet to finish outside of the top 10 in any golf event he's been in this year. Since joining LIV at the end of last year, the Spaniard has consistently been one of the league's best golfers. He's currently No. 5 in the Official World Golf Ranking. Current odds expect a bounce back for Rahm after he failed to find much success in the first major of 2024.
