Boonsboro's Sage Haller and South Hagerstown's Joseph Fox voted Athletes of the Week

Boonsboro's Sage Haller and South Hagerstown's Joseph Fox were voted The Herald-Mail’s Washington County high school athletes of the week for April 22-27.

The voting was conducted online Monday afternoon through noon Wednesday.

Haller, a senior softball player, earned the girls honor with 44.44% of the vote (328 votes). She had five hits and six RBIs in a win over Catoctin, a pair of doubles in a win over Williamsport and two RBIs in a win over Smithsburg.

Fox, a senior lacrosse goalie, was the boys winner with 39.15% of the vote (193 votes). He made 12 saves in an overtime win over Chapelgate to set the state record for career saves. He then had 15 saves, along with a goal and an assist, against Tuscarora and 17 saves against Boonsboro, upping his record number to 733.

The other boys nominees were North Hagerstown's James Oritz (baseball) and Smithsburg's Garrett Mazenko (lacrosse).

The other girls nominees were South's Kailia Burke (softball) and Saint James' Mac Griffith (softball).
