Vikings can use the franchise tag starting this week. Will they?

In what was a surprising move, Minnesota gave Anthony Harris the franchise tag in the offseason of 2020.

Harris regressed this season. Now, it seems like Harris will probably have to go elsewhere in free agency.

The Athletic’s Dan Duggan predicted that Minnesota will not be doing that again. The Vikings were tabbed by Duggan as a team to not use the franchise tag this offseason.

This season, NFL teams can use the franchise and transition tags from this Tuesday. The deadline runs through March 9.

From Harris to linebacker Eric Wilson, there are some potential franchise tag candidates on the Vikings. Still, both of those seem unlikely, based on the team’s possible salary cap situation.
