Tiger Woods, batting lefty, cards one strange little par

You can count on Tiger Woods to provide highlights, but his shot Thursday at the WGC-Match Play Championships was a fitting one for baseball’s opening day: a lefthanded baseball swing to punch out from underneath a bush. No, really.

The scenario: down one to Brandt Snedeker, Woods drifted an approach shot on the 10th hole way wide. With his ball nestled under a bush next to a grandstand, Woods really had no option other than to get funky. Here, take a look:

Not your usual par.

I mean, how do you even practice that? That’s the kind of shot you usually try as a goof, and you end up snapping your putter or forehanding the ball over the entire green.

Woods won his first-round match Wednesday against Aaron Wise, and he’ll draw Patrick Cantlay on Friday. At least he’s ready now if he puts a shot into a maintenance shed or something.
