Three under-the-radar Buffalo Bills to keep an eye on during Fantasy Football

With the NFL season fast approaching, it is almost time for the favorite part of the year in some fans minds. Fantasy Football Drafts. With that said, grabbing your draft kits and preparing your big boards is currently on the minds of some hardcore fans. However, while those kits and boards normally serve you well, they will not normally provide us with the sleeper players many teams need.

With that in mind, I figured we could take a look today at three Buffalo Bills that will be going under the radar in fantasy football. Depending on your needs and overall depth of your league, these players could make or break your 2017 fantasy football campaign.

Jonathan Williams — Running Back

Serving as the third string running back last season behind both LeSean McCoy and Mike Gillislee, Jonathan Williams was not a force at all for the Buffalo Bills offense. Recording only 94 rushing yards and a single rushing score, Williams had an issue with fumbles, losing possession of the football twice last season.

However, things should change for the better in 2017. With Mike Gillislee gone to New England and the only other real competition coming from undrafted free agent Jordan Johnson, Williams should almost certainly be locked into the number two back role this season.

Getting the touches on passing downs and short-yardage situations, Williams will likely see his snaps and scores increase this season. If your team needs a late round running back or even a free agent pickup, Jonathan Williams could be the man for your team.

Shaq Lawson — Defensive Lineman

For those fantasy football folks who play with actual defensive players like myself, Shaq Lawson could be a solid late addition to your team this season. Despite having injury issues that plagued his rookie campaign, Lawson appears primed and ready to have a solid if even great sophomore campaign at the NFL level.

BILLS NEWS: Three free agents the Bills should consider signing

However, because of his injury issues and subpar production as a rookie, Lawson is unlikely to be a highly rated player in most fantasy leagues. After all, Lawson only managed to record 13 tackles, two sacks, and one forced fumble in ten games played last season. That said, look for him to have a better campaign once he returns to his more natural 4-3 defensive end position.

If Lawson turns out to be the type of player that the Bills thought he would be when they drafted him in 2016, then this is the season to get on the bandwagon. Adding him as a depth option for your defensive line could do you wonders late in the season, especially if he has the breakout campaign some believe he will have.

Andre Holmes — Wide Receiver

Signed as a free agent earlier in the offseason, Andre Holmes is unlikely to see major game time this season with the Buffalo Bills. A role player for his entire career, Holmes is not the game-changer that some fantasy teams need. That said, he does fit a role in the Bills offense and could be on for some touchdowns this season.

Standing 6’4, Holmes is a big man type target that will almost certainly see most of his reps come near the goal line. Considering his size, Holmes will see some looks from Tyrod Taylor when they are near the goal line. With his average of about four touchdowns a year over the last three years, Holmes could be a solid if risky plug and play option when injuries strike.

Unlike the previous two players who I say should be picked up late in the draft process, Andre Holmes is not a player that should be drafted. If anything, he is a potential free agent pickup for teams once injuries strike your roster.
