Three Rivers teams sweep Sturgis on the diamonds

THREE RIVERS — Three Rivers swept Sturgis in both baseball and softball action.

The Wildcats picked up wins of 11-4 and 4-3 on the baseball diamond. The Cats scored in five of six at bats in the first game, putting up four runs in the second and sixth.

Three Rivers totaled seven singles in the game. Jace Gray had two of those and drove in one while Luis Warmack added one and totaled three RBIs for the game. Drew McClain drove in a pair with a hit and Mason Awe connected for an RBI hit as well.

Kaleb Williams pitched all seven innings for the Cats, striking out three. Sturgis had three pitchers as Camden Duffy, Gavin Lewis and George Bucklin tossed six innings and struck out three.

Gibson Cary registered two base hits and an RBI for the Trojans. Caleb Hahn had two hits as well. Taner Patrick and Zach Green both drove in one with a hit while Bucklin and Duffy each registered a hit.

Sturgis scored one in the first, fifth and seventh innings in the second game, but could not overcome two in the fifth by Three Rivers in a 4-3 loss.

Patrick smacked a pair of hits for the Trojans, Logan Markey and Carter Oswald both had run-scoring hits.

Cary struck out nine on the mound for Sturgis.

Brad Penny picked up the win for the Cats, striking out four in five innings.

Three Rivers had six hits in the game, including a Warmack 2-run single.

In the softball games, Three Rivers won 10-0 and 12-2.

Three Rivers led 1-0 heading into the third in the first game, then scored five runs. The Cats added two in the fourth and fifth to secure the 10-0 win.

Allie McGlothlen hit a home run for Three Rivers, she added a double and drove in three runs total. Jennaya Decker clubbed a pair of hits and drove in three as well and Emily Ventrone connected for two base hits. Ava Forman connected for an RBI hit while Andrea Bell, Natalie Gilliam and Kendall Penny each singled.

Decker pitched the Cats to the win with nine strikeouts.

Sturgis got hits from Riley Northrop and Mia Martinez in the contest.

Three Rivers scored four times in the second and fifth, the Cats added two in the third and sixth. Ventrone and Forman each had two hits in this game. Lanie Glass, Peyton Ware, Bell and McGlothlen each recorded an RBI hit. London Hoffmaster, Dani Glass and Ashton Ware each scored a hit in the game.

Peyton Ware pitched the Cats to the win with six strikeouts.

Sturgis got a pair of hits from Maddy Webb in the game, she drove in one. Haylee Pappas collected a pair of hits as well while Nataliegh Jarratt recorded a hit and an RBI. Sophia Crites and Northrop each had a base hit as well.

Mendon teams win again

Both the Mendon baseball and softball teams won on Wednesday. The baseball team did not give up a hit in five innings as Brayden Crites and Jackson Kindig combined to strike out nine.

Crites and Kindig led the offense as well with four hits and four RBIs between them. Cody Bingaman, Grant Crotser and Carter Huston each had a run-scoring hit.

The Mendon softball team beat Athens 5-1 on Wednesday, improving the team to 23-1 on the season.

Rowan Allen pitched the Hornets to the win, striking out 17.

Kaidee Gonser had a double with an RBI, both Allen and Jadyn Samson connected for a base hit.

Bronson hammers Quincy

The Bronson softball team beat up on Quincy Wednesday, winning 17-1 and 9-3.

"We came out and attacked the ball on offense which was good to see," Bronson coach Becky Gray said. "We are working hard defensively and it is coming together. Getting two wins was big for us tonight."

Ashlynn Harris pitched the Vikings to the win in the first game, striking out eight. At the plate, she hit two singles, a triple and drove in three runs while Brealyn Lasky clubbed four hits and drove in four runs.

Ron Bir also connected for three hits while driving in two. Ciara Blankenship, Mya Webb and Lydia Wells each hita. double while driving in three. Braelynn Gimenez and Kailynne Scare each had a base hit.

Webb and Harris combined to strike out eight in the next game.

Wells hammered a home run, hit a single and drove in three runs. Harris, Blankenship and Lasky combined for seven hits and four runs driven in. Bir, Scare, Webb and Ryleigh Fee all singled.

Hartford sweeps White Pigeon

White Pigeon fell in a couple of softball games on Monday to Hartford, 10-0 and 11-8.

The first game saw Hannah Eckert hit a double while Cali Raley and Rachel Byler both hit a single.

Layla Abner hit three singles in the second game. Byler clubbed a single with two RBIs as did Emily Miller. Emily Barton hit a 2-run double and Eckert collected two singles. Mable Post and Leigha Shudell both had a single as well.
