A super-sized Fantastic Five MetroWest and Milford athletes from the weekend

A super weekend deserves a super sized Fantastic Five. These athletes brought home sectional and district championships and kept their teams in the win column.

The meets and games only get bigger from here

CAUAN AMARAL/ADRIAN GUZMAN/ANTON PUHACH, Ashland wrestling

They all clinched Division 3 sectional titles at home with a pin on Saturday. The Clockers won four individual championships and scored 291.5 points to take the team title over Wayland (205). Guzman pinned Athol's Alden Kirwan in 1:48 at 157 pounds, Puhach took down Cole Johnson of Eat Longmeadow in 3:27 at 175 pounds and Amaral needed 2:56 to take down Holliston's Lucas Beadenkopf at 190. Logan Costello won the 106-pound title for the Clockers with a tech fall. Owen Mendez (138) and Miguel Boges (150) claimed sectional titles for Marlborough. Holliston's Bavly Mikhail topped the podium at 113 pounds. Wayland's Nathan Tobe pinned Ashland's Kevin Botsis in the 215-pound final in 1:43.

ADDY CAGAN, Algonquin girls hockey

She posted her fifth shutout of the season with 31 saves in a 4-0 win over Auburn on Saturday. Algonquin Bryn Domolky added a goal and an assist, while Lauren O'Malley, Brenna Joyce and Courtney Shifrin each found the net once. Linda Hu and Sara Albanese each contributed an assist for Algonquin  (10-6-1, 3-3 Central/West).

THOMAS EPPICH, Lincoln-Sudbury boys swimming

He captured two North sectional titles on Sunday at MIT, winning the 200 individual medley in 1:57.33, besting the field by nearly fur seconds) and 500 freestyle in 4:40.51, where he was 12 seconds clear of the field. Eppich also helped the Warriors take third in the 400 freestyle relay and fourth in the 200 free relay. Lincoln-Sudbury's girls 200 medley relay team of Lorelei Hogan, Lydia Mossi, Bella Newbern and Maya Particelli won the girls north title in 1:51.28 seconds Saturday. They barely edged Concord-Carlisle, touching first by .07 seconds.

ARYAMAN JAIN, Westborough boys swimming & diving

He topped the podium twice at the Central/West swimming and diving championships Sunday at Springfield college. The junior won the 50-yard freestyle in 21.84 seconds and the 100 in 48.47, just out touching Ludlow's Joe Keroak by .47 seconds. Jain also swam on the Rangers 200 freestyle relay (11th) and 200 medley relay (eighth).

MILES LIPKA, Algonquin boys indoor track and field

The junior captured two event titles at the District E Gerry Frew Invitational on Sunday. He won the boys Division 1 55-meter hurdles in 7.99 seconds and long jump at 21 feet, 4.75 inches. His teammate Christopher Kardo crossed first in the 1,000 (2:34.59), and Joseph Lamburn was first in the mile (4:36.25). Stephen White helped Algonquin dominate the distance events with a win in the two-mile (9:37.4). Westborough's Sebastian Grillo tossed the shot put 49-08 for the title.

ROBERT LYONS, Milford wrestling

He led the Scarlet Hawks to the Division 2 Central sectional title with a pin in the championship match at 126 points against Walpole's Logan Murphy on Saturday. Four other Milford wrestlers topped the podium: Derek Marolini (113), Michael Boulanger (138), Aidan Baum (144) and Kevin Coelho (175). Milford scored 275 points, the second place team North Attenborough hit 190.5. Tri-County's Brandon Allen won at 132 pounds, and Bellingham's Landry Fitzgerald took the 285-pound title via pin.

CHRISTIAN STEVENS, Hudson boys hockey

He put away a hat trick on Saturday for the hawks (10-7). Hudson's Jordan Sousa also found the net once.

JONO WINDLE, Dover-Sherborn boys basketball

He scored 28 points and hit five 3s in a 65-53 win over Dedham on Friday. Thomas Churney contributed 10 points for D-S (11-7, 9-6 TVL).

Boys basketball

MEDWAY 66, Bellingham 50: Reuben Simon scored 13 points with eight rebounds for the Mustangs (9-8, 9-5 TVL) on Friday. Medway's Matt Parlon added 12 points.

MILLIS 60, Norton 59: Sophomore Sean Ryan canned the game-winning 3-pointer with 16 seconds left for Millis (7-10, 5-10 TVL) on Friday and scored 16 points.

LINCOLN-SUDBURY 51, Westford Academy 38: Peter Abair posted 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Warriors (12-5) on Friday.

HOPKINTON 63, Holliston 48: Senior point guard Jack Ianelli led the Hillers (14-2, 14-1 TVL) with 20 points and five assists Friday. Hopkinton's Cooper Willadsen and James Marcinowski contributed 11 points each. The Hillers can win the TVL title with a victory at Westwood on Wednesday. Logan Schmid led Holliston with 12 points, while Aidan Daly and Owen Vaughn scored 11 each.

DOHERTY 75, Hopkinton 55: Jack Ianelli had 17 points and five assists, as the Hillers (14-3) lost for the first time in 2024 on Saturday, ending a 12-game winning streak. Cooper Willadsen reached double digits with 10 points.

NIPMUC 57, Sutton 47: Jimmy McKinney led the way for the Warriors (11-5, 7-2 DVC) on Saturday with 20 points and 14 rebounds. Nipmuc's Chase Kelly contributed 11 points.

WHITINSVILLE CHRISTIAN, Assabet 37: Aaron Pridgeon hit three 3s and scored nine points for Assabet (3-13) on Friday.

BLUE HILLS 55, Keefe Tech 53: Eidan Toppa led three Broncos (8-8) in double figures with 17 points on Friday. Keefe Tech's George Anastos added 13 points, while Logan Greenlaw scored 10.

ALGONQUIN 57, Wachusett 56: Patrick Biamou sank a free throw with 7.1 seconds to secure the Titans' victory on Friday. He scored 16 points, while Cam Adams and Dylan Poirier each scored seven with a 3 for Algonquin (5-11, 2-6 Mid-Wach A).

MARLBOROUGH 62, Oakmont 48: Chris Krueger poured in 22 points, and Ryan Dillon had 15 for the Panthers (3-11, 2-9 Mid-Wach B) on Friday.

LUNENBURG 54, Hudson 50: Jake Attaway led the Hawks (9-9, 5-7 Mid-Wach C) with 19 points on Friday, while Jackson O'Brien scored 12.

Girls basketball

NORTON 41, Millis 35: Kyra Rice scored 11 points, and Lindsey Grattan added 10 for Millis (13-7, 9-6 TVL) on Friday.

WESTFORD ACADEMY 37, Lincoln-Sudbury 36: Evie Schwartz (nine rebounds) and Sarah Poland (four rebounds) each contributed 12 points for the Warriors (12-4, 8-1 DCL) on Friday.

WALPOLE 58, Natick 36: Sophomore Aly Kastantin contributed 11 points and seven rebounds for the Redhawks (4-11, 3-9 BSC) on Friday.

HOLLISTON 54, Hopkinton 41: Megan Simpson paced the Panthers with 24 points on Friday. Izzy Glenn-Smith pulled down 13 rebounds with seven points for Holliston (7-11, 6-9 TVL), and Lucy Bahmann added nine points. Meghan Grady led Hopkinton (9-8, 7-8) with 12 points.

BAY PATH 38, Hopedale 34: Anna Fafard and Bea Hava (two 3s) scored nine points each for the Blue Raiders (9-8) on Friday.

BLACKSTONE VALLEY TECH 39, Nipmuc 33: Danika Kirby poured in 17 points, as the Beavers (9-6) outscored the Warriors (6-1) 33-19 in the second half Friday. Nipmuc's Molly Dishington hit three 3s and scored nine points.

WHITINSVILLE CHRISTIAN 38, Assabet 26: Ava Palizzolo led Assabet (4-12) with eight points Friday.

WACHUSETT 74, Algonquin 23: Sophia Hjerpe paced the Tians (6-10, 0-8 Mid-Wach A) with 11 points Friday.

MARLBOROUGH 76, Oakmont 44: Meghan Deneen dropped 22 points for the Panthers (12-3, 8-3 Mid-Wach B) on Friday. Marlborough's Bella Miele and Emmay Reynolds contributed 15 points each.

HUDSON 41, Lunenburg 25: Aubrey Lenox led the Hawks (11-6, 7-5 Mid-Wach C) with 13 points Friday.

Gymnastics

HOCKOMOCK CHAMPIONSHIPS: Molly Chandler led the Panthers with a fifth place finish on Vault and seventh on the beam. She scored an 8.9 on the vault and a8.3 on the beam Saturday.

Boys ice hockey

AUBURN 5, Marlborough 1: Derek Pedreros scored for the Panthers (8-7-2) on Saturday. Chace Lozano provided the assist. Marlborough's Roman Belli made 18 saves.

ALGONQUIN 8, Westborough 2: Nathan Meschisen had two goals and two assists, Ben Yosca also scored twice, and Jack Gulachenski added a goal and two assists to lift the Titans (10-4-3, 4-0-2 Quinn) at the DCU Center. Max Aires netted two unassisted goals for the Rangers (5-12, 1-6).

DOVER-SHERBORN/WESTON 2, Medway 1: Patrick Benson and Max Niit scored Saturday, and the Raiders (13-4) clinched their first TVL Small title since 2009-10 on Saturday. Andrew Marden, Ethan Fiore and Hinckley added an assist each. D-S goalie Andrew Goldstein stopped 28 shots.

FRAMINGHAM 4, Newton North 0: Jeremy Auren found the net twice, while Dominic Connerney and Noah Albright added a goal an an assist each for the Flyers (6-11-1) on Saturday. Grady Idelson and Adam Kornbau distributed an assist each.

Girls ice hockey

WAYLAND/WESTON 4, Concord Carlisle 2: Tilly Myles turned away 33 shots Saturday. Coco Curran scored twice for Wayland/Weston, while Hailey Pelzar added two assists. Molly Ross (assist) and Niall Cahalane found the net cone each, and Kate Lamb provided an assist.

Westford/Littleton 2, Shrewsbury 2: Shrewsbury's Allie Martel tied the game 11:31 into the third with Paige Umile and Natalie MacCausland assisting. Bridget McLaughlin tallied 46 seconds into the game for the Colonials (8-3-5, 6-2-4 Merrimach Valley/Dual County) off a pass from Sadie Cusson.

Indoor track and field

DISTRICT E CHAMPIONSHIPS: Algonquin won the girls Division 1 4x200 relay in 1:44.89 seconds. Arianna Gentile won the girls 55 for the Tians (7.5), while Olivia Labelle sprinted to first in the 55 hurdles (8.53) for the Titans. Hudson's Peyton Knott crossed the line first in the 6oo (1:43.69). Algonquin's Brigid Purcell won the mile (5:27.33), and Olivia Guckian took the two-mile (11:57.93). Kate Di Tullio cleared 16-2 to win the long jump for the Titans. In Division 2, Hopedale's Jackson Hunt crossed first in the boys mile (4:38.29). Ari Levine cleared 48-10.5 to win the shot put for the Blue Raiders.
