Sturgis, Three Rivers bowlers split matches

BRONSON — The Sturgis bowling teams split a pair of matches with visiting Three Rivers on Monday.

The Trojans still bowl at Bronson Strike Zone and hosted the Wildcats. SHS won the boy's tilt 20-10 to stay unbeaten in Wolverine Conference at 7-0. The Lady Trojans lost 22-9 and fell to 5-2 overall in conference action.

"Excellent night for the gents," Sturgis coach Scott Spahr said. "Boys now control their fate in their quest to win their first conference title since 2019. Ladies will need help along the way to secure one. Awesome night of competition with a great senior night atmosphere."

Sturgis cheer wins home invitational

The boys won singles matches 960-919 and 964-962. This gave them a total pin advantage of 1,924 - 1,881. Lane Malone led the way with a 459 (212-247) and Andrew Matz shot 399 (195-204). Brayden Smoker bowled games of 196 and 182 (378), Caleb Henson-Bohlen bowled games of 168 and 189 (357) and Josh Groff bowled games of 189 and 142 (331).

Three Rivers was led by Lucan Hoescher, he bowled games of 180 and 267 for a 447. Theo Harrmann bowled games of 200 and 193 (393) as well.

Sturgis won the first baker game at 191-177. The Cats picked up the win, 187-84, this gave Three Rivers a 364-275 advantage in bakers and two bonus points.

For the girls, Sturgis won the opening baker at 179-177. Three Rivers earned the second at 188-146, this gave them a 365-325 edge and two bonus points.

The Cats won singles games as well, 805-738 and 807-778 (1,612 - 1,516).

Miley Holden rolled a 322 series for Sturgis (157-165) and Kami Kimes bowled a 307 (170-137). Both Lydia Boland (152-149) and Kortnie Matz (125-176) rolled 301 series.

"Overall, an excellent night against a very strong program," Spahr said.

Bronson edges Burr Oak

The Bronson bowling team won a 21-9 decision over Burr Oak in prep bowling the other day. Brennan Baldridge, Haley Tillmon and Jacob Trennepohl each secured points for Burr Oak.

Big offensive output gives Sturgis girls home victory

The Bobcats also shot a baker game of 191, it was the highest baker score for the season for Burr Oak.

Then, on Wednesday, the Bobcats battled with the Niles-Brandywine Bobcats.

Brandywine won the match, 27-3. It won baker games 165-138 and 152-137 to sweep all 10 points. In singles action, Brandywine won 735-660 and 732-548 (1,467 - 1,208).

Trennepohl led Burr Oak with games of 163 and 172 (335), Haley Tillmon bowled games of 137 and 113 (250) and Baldridge rolled games of 123 and 87 (210). Blake Tillmon rolled a 145 singles game.
