Sports shorts: Fichtner's no-no completes Lodi's sweep of West

Apr. 22—Andrew Fichtner pitched a no-hitter on Friday as the Lodi High baseball team beat West 14-0 to complete a sweep, making for three-straight shutouts over the Wolf Pack.

Lodi outscored West 29-0 during the three-game series.

On Friday, Fichtner pitched five innings, striking out nine batters and walking two for his second no-hitter of the season — he gunned down Downey's lineup in a 1-0 non-league victory on March 13.

At the plate, Brent Godina went 2-for-3 with a home run, a double, two RBIs and two runs, Vance Haskinswent 2-for-2 with a triple and two runs, Chase Whiting doubled, Preston Plath singled and drove in two runs, Charlie Casazza singled and scored twice, and Lorenzo Lew, Aiden Haynie, Gianni Brassesco, Riley Walker, Noah Silvia, Landon Beasley and Aiden Abarca each singled.

Lodi started this week's series against Tracy with a home game on Monday, with a road game Wednesday and a home game at Zupo on Friday.

Varsity: Lincoln 11, Tokay 1

The Tigers lost on Friday to make it a sweep for the Trojans, with a 2-for-3 day from Dante Rodriguez and a single from Blake Goen.

Tokay faces St. Mary's in this week's series, with a road game Monday, a home game at Zupo on Wednesday, and back in Stockton on Friday.

JV: Lodi 13, West 1

The JV Flames racked up 17 hits in Friday's victory, with a 4-for-5 day with a double and three runs from Vinny Casazza, 3-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and three runs from Jason Crawford, 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs from Diego Pantoja, 2-for-5 with two runs from Jax Bennett, 2-for-4 with a double from Andrew Heinrich, a double from Jonathan Trillas, and singles from Hunter Rau, Jake Focacci and Gio Pacelli (with two RBIs from Pacelli).

Heinrich struck out six in three innings for the win, with hitless innings from Pacelli, Bennett and Trillas.

JV: Lincoln 13, Tokay 2

The Tigers had two hits in Friday's loss, a double and a single both by Jacob Garibaldi.

SOFTBALL

Varsity: Liberty Ranch 11, Galt 0

The Hawks held the Warriors to two hits on Monday, with four scoreless innings and four strikeouts from Laura Quinn, and one hitless inning with two strikeouts from Kaitlynn Castro.

At the plate, Paityn Snow went 3-for-4 for Liberty Ranch, Riley Sickels went 2-for-2 with two RBIs, Carlie Perez went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and two runs, Khali Barrantes went 2-for-3 with two runs, Quinn went 2-for-4 with two runs, Ysabel Granata went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and two runs, Castro singled with two RBIs, and Cici Lathipanya-Kham and Natalie Vigil each singled.
