Report: Chargers' Derwin James robbed at gunpoint last month

Los Angeles Chargers rookie Derwin James reportedly was robbed at gunpoint in Los Angeles last month, according to TMZ.

James’ jewelry stolen

TMZ writes that James, the 17th pick in the draft, out of Florida State, was leaving an Italian restaurant with his uncle on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles on June 23 when the men were approached by two males, who demanded their jewelry.

One allegedly took the chain off James’ neck, while they also took the defensive back’s Rolex watch.

Both men allegedly pointed handguns at James.

Was it a set up?

After getting James’ jewelry, the two thieves fled to a nearby car. But when James ran to his own car to chase after them (likely not the smartest idea), three of the tires on his car had been slashed, which leads us to believe the robbery was a set-up.

Police are still searching for the suspects.
