Portage HS scores | Apr. 10: Field baseball has huge offensive performance, sweeps Norton

Undefeated Field used a dominant offensive performance to earn a season sweep of Norton in Metro Athletic Conference baseball Wednesday.

Sam Confer, Drexal McAmis and Kayden Smith all singled and doubled for the Falcons (6-0, 5-0), with Confer recording a team-high four RBIs and McAmis close behind with three in a 17-4 victory.

Landon Homan got the win on the mound.

Streetsboro 13, Springfield 4

The Rockets capped their own MAC sweep, scoring in all five innings against the Spartans. Down 4-2 at the end of one inning, Streetsboro responded with six runs in the top of the second.

The Rockets' Jack Batten provided three scoreless innings of relief, striking out five while allowing just one hit.

Streetsboro's Jack Pincoe had a big day at the plate, going 2 for 3 with four RBIs.

Bristol 19, Windham 3

The Panthers scored 10 runs in the first inning and five more in the second to take full control.

The Bombers lost despite a fine performance by Jack Eye, who homered and singled.

Windham's Jordan Ridenbaugh added a single and drew a walk.

Softball

Rootstown 16, Lake Center 4

The Rovers scored in every inning, including six runs in the second and seven in the fourth, to bounce back from a tough loss Tuesday.

Abby White went 3 for 3 with three RBIs and Lilly Kamenash doubled, drove in four runs and scored four runs to lead Rootstown.

Aurora 11, Barberton 1

The visiting Greenmen (6-0) pulled away with five runs in the sixth to stay undefeated.

McKennah Metzger allowed one run in five innings and went 3 for 4 with three RBIs. Sophie Retton added a perfect inning of relief in the circle and a double at the plate. Sophie Schecterman homered for Aurora, and Lailah Bohanan and Avery Qualters joined Metzger and Schecterman in recording multiple hits.

Field 11, Coventry 8

Right after the Comets knotted the score 3-3, the host Falcons jumped back ahead with five runs in the fourth. Lilli Sutkowy and Tia Ulrich both homered for Field (6-0, 4-0 MAC) as it surged ahead for good, while McKayla Miller went 3 for 3.

Cloverleaf 10, Ravenna 2

The Ravens lost despite Mallory Sterba's two hits and multiple stolen bases by both Whitney Holmes and Kasey Sterba.
