Final: South Alabama 33, Oklahoma State 7
On top of the slow start and poor blocking, the Cowboys (2-1) hurt themselves with a few other unforced errors on the way to a 33-7 loss to South Alabama on Saturday night at Boone Pickens Stadium.

Fourth quarter: La'Damian Webb gashes Cowboys
OSU fell behind 33-7 when South Alabama running back La’Damian Webb got free up the middle for a 65-yard touchdown run with less than seven minutes to go.
It was the Jaguars’ third touchdown of 39 yards or more, and put them over 200 rushing yards for the game.
Previously, the Jags had added a field goal on a short drive, taking advantage of a muffed punt by Brennan Presley.
Third quarter: Jaden Nixon gets Pokes on the board
OSU finally found its way onto the scoreboard with 12:14 left in the game.
Facing fourth-and-2, the Cowboys pitched wide to running back Jaden Nixon, the speediest of the group, and he beat everyone to the corner for the touchdown.
Coach Mike Gundy elected to kick an extra point rather than go for two, leaving the Cowboys down 23-7.
Third quarter: Scoreless period, but OSU in huge hole
OSU didn’t give up any more points, but couldn’t erase the goose egg on its side of the scoreboard, either, going to the fourth quarter with a 23-0 deficit against South Alabama.
The Cowboys managed to surpass the 100-yard mark in total offense, piling up 90 yards in the third quarter, boosting the total to 160 for the game.
Still, the Cowboys have not had any serious threats to score since the dropped pass by Jaden Bray in the first quarter that looked like it would have gone for a score.
Halftime: Deep shot a gut-punch for Pokes
Caullin Lacy got behind OSU safety Trey Rucker for a 57-yard touchdown pass from South Alabama quarterback Carter Bradley with less than two minutes left in the first half, putting the Jags up 23-0.
OSU had a quick three-and-out to end its final threat at trying to score in the first half and instead went to the locker room knowing it would need the biggest comeback in school history to come away with a win.
OSU’s largest comeback ever was the 21-point deficit it erased to defeat Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl two seasons ago.
At the half, South Alabama had 232 total yards to just 70 for OSU.

Second quarter: Gunnar Gundy enters to big cheers
OSU fans booed Alan Bowman when he took the field for his fourth — and what appears to be his final — series of the game at quarterback. Bowman was intercepted in his next-to-last series, which led to a South Alabama touchdown and a 16-0 lead.
After OSU was forced to punt on Bowman’s fourth series, sophomore Gunnar Gundy entered for his first shot behind center and the crowd cheered vigorously.
Gundy misfired on his first pass attempt, completed his second for a short gain in the flat, and was sacked for a four-yard loss leading to a punt.
Second quarter: South Alabama’s Webb makes it 16-0
After an interception thrown by Alan Bowman, South Alabama needed just one play to add to its lead.
A 17-yard TD run by La’Damian Webb put the Jaguars up 16-0 after the point-after try failed.
Bowman’s interception was his first of the year and the second by OSU quarterbacks. He and receiver Talyn Shettron appeared to have miscommunicated on the play. Bowman threw the ball expecting Shettron to turn back, but the receiver had his back to the play as he ran upfield.
First quarter: Kendal Daniels beat on TD pass
On OSU’s first defensive series, safety Kendal Daniels left with an injury and went to the locker room to be evaluated.
He returned for the second series, but got beat on an underneath pass to Caullin Lacy, who ran away from Daniels for an untouched 39-yard score and a 10-0 lead for South Alabama.
Lacy entered the game leading the nation in yards after catch.

First quarter: Jaguars strike first
Driving methodically down the field, recording five first downs, South Alabama took a 3-0 lead on a 39-yard field goal by Diego Guajardo with 6:18 left in the first quarter.
The drive came in response to an OSU drive that ended just past midfield after a pair of dropped passes by OSU receivers — one of which looked like a potential touchdown.
Super-senior Alan Bowman got the start at quarterback for OSU, completing three of six passes for 27 yards on the opening drive.
Pregame: No clarity on starters at QB, tackle
Through the first two games, OSU has started two different players at quarterback, and two different players at right tackle.
No known starter was clearly known based on pregame warmups. Garret Rangel and Alan Bowman have started each of the last two games, suggesting it could be Gunnar Gundy’s turn at the front of the line.
At right tackle, Jake Springfield started the opener, but was injured early and replaced by Dalton Cooper, who started last week. Springfield took part in pregame workouts, but his availability was not known. Additionally, Cooper was at the front of the right tackle line during pregame.
