Ohio State QB Miller expected to start this week
Ohio State quarterback Braxton Miller probably will return to action this week and would be the starting quarterback against Florida A&M if he plays. However, Kenny Guiton played so well in Miller's absence that coach Urban Meyer is seriously considering giving him some playing time as well.
Miller missed most of the San Diego State game two weeks ago and all of the Cal game last week after suffering a sprained medial collateral ligament in his left knee against San Diego State.
Guiton, a senior, completed 40 of 60 passes for 448 yards and six touchdowns in the wins over San Diego State and Cal.
Miller is listed as probable for the Florida A&M game, and Meyer confirmed that Miller will retain his starting job. But Guiton could be part of the game plan.
"We're in conversation about that right now," Meyer said, according to CollegeFootballTalk.com. "If (Guiton's) one of the best 11, you have an obligation to get him on the field a little bit.
"Kenny is a natural option quarterback, Braxton is not quite as natural pitching the ball. I would say that's probably the one area that Kenny excels at. In the last two games, we've ran more option than we've run in a long time."
Meyer stopped short of suggesting he would use a two-quarterback system, but he seems determined to use Guiton in some capacity.
"If you can buy stock, buy stock in Kenny Guiton," Meyer said.
When Meyer won a national title at Florida in 2006, Chris Leak was the starting quarterback, but Meyer used Tim Tebow often during games that season.
