Fan poll: Richland softball's Mary Katherine Butler voted Columbia area girls athlete of the week

The votes have been cast and Richland's Mary Katherine Butler has been voted as The Daily Herald's Columbia area girls athlete of the week for April 22-26.

Butler finished with 168 votes accounting for 52.17% of total responses. Butler was 5-for-9 on the week with two home runs, a triple, nine RBIs, two runs and a stolen base as Richland went undefeated.

Richland's Ava Shrader came in second with 53 votes, 16.46% of the total. Shrader pitched two no-hitters last week. She struck out seven batters across four innings in a 15-0 win over Santa Fe and also struck out seven batters in three innings in a 15-0 win over Fayetteville City. Shrader was also 3-for-5 with a triple, two doubles, two runs and four RBIs in a 15-2 win over Santa Fe.

Third place was Summit's Tarek Scherr, who finished with 45 votes, 13.98% of the vote. Scherr was 6-for-10 on the week with two home runs, a triple, seven RBIs, two additional runs and a stolen base as Summit went 2-1.
