Michael Bennett gets table at restaurant pretending to be Russell Wilson
Michael Bennett has been a star defensive end for the Seattle Seahawks this season.
Fans certainly took notice when he returned a fumble 22 yards for a touchdown during last week's 34-7 win over the New Orleans Saints. He's also sacked quarterback 6.5 times this year.
Well, apparently his standout play on defense didn't go gain enough notice for him to ensure a reservation at an upscale restaurant.
After calling to make a reservation, and explaining who he was, he was denied as he was told the restaurant was booked that particular night. Not wanting to be denied, Bennett figured out a solution.
He called back and pretended to be the one player who practically owns the city of Seattle at the moment: Quarterback Russell Wilson.
After Bennett called and said he was Wilson, he was apparently was given a table immediately.
"And [the hostess] was like, 'Yes! We can make a table for you! You were 22-for-30 the other night, 130 quarterback rating!' She knew every stat," Bennett told radio station ESPN 710.
When Bennett, his wife and children arrived to the restaurant, the hostess realized she'd been duped. But still, the restaurant gave his family the table.
"She took me to the table and they had it roped off," Bennett said. "They had sparkling water and everything."
