Muskego vaults into area top 5 of baseball rankings with 5-0 week

TEAM OF THE WEEK

Muskego

The Warriors went 5-0 last week to vault into the No. 5 spot in our rankings and to the top of the Classic 8 Conference entering this week. Muskego began the week with home and away wins over Kettle Moraine on Monday and Tuesday, winning 9-3 and 5-4, respectively. The offense carried that momentum into a 15-1 rout of Waukesha South on Wednesday. A fourth and final conference win for the week came Thursday over our No. 7 team in last week's rankings, as the Warriors defeated Waukesha North, 5-4. Another statement win over an area ranked team came Saturday against then-No. 8 Franklin, 12-2. The Warriors were 5-0 in the Classic 8 entering this week, with conference games at Waukesha North on Monday and at Catholic Memorial on Wednesday.

COMING UP

New Berlin Eisenhower vs. Pewaukee, 4:45 p.m. Tuesday at Pewaukee; 7 p.m. Wednesday at Kapco Park: A critical home and away for the Woodland West Conference standings takes place this week, as conference-leading Eisenhower travels to second-place Pewaukee before hosting the rematch at the home of the Lake Shore Chinooks.

Arrowhead at St. Thomas More, 4:30 p.m. Wednesday: The Metro Classic Conference leaders face a tough nonconference opponent as the Warhawks visit.

Waukesha North at Oconomowoc, 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Saturday: In a weekend doubleheader with Classic 8 Conference ramifications, the league's second-place team entering the week in Oconomowoc hosts fifth-place Waukesha North.

Franklin vs. Oak Creek, 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at Oak Creek; 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at Franklin; 4:30 p.m. Friday at Oak Creek: Deadlocked at 8-1 atop the Southeast Conference entering the week, the title race could see substantial movement depending on how these three contests shake out.
