Michigan football to host Northwestern transfer, 2023 4-star LB

The first domino to fall in the Northwestern hazing scandal, outside of head coach Pat Fitzgerald, is potentially looking for a new home in Ann Arbor.

A member of the 2023 recruiting class, Clayton (Ohio) Northmont linebacker Nigel Glover was rated a four-star recruit, the No. 335 player in the country in his recruiting cycle according to the 247Sports Composite. Glover has yet to play a down at the college level and he’s looking for a new opportunity given that things have changed in Evanston.

Glover is reportedly visiting Kentucky, but according to 247Sports’ Steve Lorenz, he will also be coming to the BBQ at the Big House over the weekend.

Per 247Sports’ Allen Trieu, Glover projects to being a Power Five starter at the next level:

Athletic defender with a prototypical frame for an outside linebacker. Has played like a hybrid safety in high school but should transition into being a full-time, traditional linebacker in college. Still has room to grow and add weight. Runs well to the ball and has change of direction that is outstanding for a player of his size. Will get physical and strike ball carriers. Will have to get used to working his way through the wash more and taking on blocks inside the box. He has come down and blitzed off the edge, but we do not see him have to take on and shed as much. He has the athletic qualities to be excellent in coverage but still needs experience in man to man. Should be able to get to the point where he can man on a tight end, possibly backs at the next level. Has to get stronger, and will likely have to adjust to how he is used in college but fits in any scheme because of his versatility and should be an impact college defender.

If Glover’s high school sounds familiar, that’s because that’s the same school that star Michigan safety Rod Moore also went to — which may give the Wolverines an ace in the hole. Glover did not originally have a Michigan offer during his recruitment.

Michigan did take three linebackers in the 2023 class in Jason Hewlett, Semaj Bridgeman, and Hayden Moore. Glover can also play safety, but the Wolverines also took Brandyn Hillman (who got out of his letter of intent after signing day to commit with Michigan), D’Juan Waller, and Breeon Ishmail.

The Wolverines had one player transfer to Northwestern this offseason in former wide receiver and kick returner A.J. Henning.
