Lane Kiffin just keeps on tweeting. And tweeting and tweeting.

When we last checked in with the Florida Atlantic coach, he was informing the general public he was not “waiting by the phone” for Tennessee and its head coach opening. On Tuesday, Kiffin continued goofing on his former boss, Alabama coach Nick Saban, and Saban’s now infamous “rat poison” comment.

After then-No. 1 Alabama beat Texas A&M in a close game, Saban lamented that his players got too caught up in the praise from the media, which he called “rat poison.” Since then, Kiffin has joked about rat poison on countless occasions. Tuesday’s edition involved a meme from a USC blog.

Here is the meme in all its glory:

It references Saban’s comments after the Tide lost in the Iron Bowl to Auburn and his response from 2016 when asked if a conference title should stand above “anything else on a résumé for consideration for the playoff.” Not surprisingly, it takes Saban completely out of context.

In 2016, Ohio State finished the regular season 11-1 but missed out on the Big Ten title game because of a loss to Penn State. Alabama finds itself in the same spot this year and Saban is hoping his team makes it into the College Football Playoff like OSU did last year.

After Saturday’s loss to the Tigers, Saban said, “I think this team deserves the opportunity to get in the playoff because of what they’ve accomplished and been able to do.”

With respect to Ohio State, he said this:

And here it is in text form, thanks to Ben Jones of TideSports.com:

So the full context of Saban’s quote made a good case for Ohio State in 2016 and it makes a case for the Tide in 2017. Of course, things are different from year-to-year and there are College Football Playoff scenarios where Alabama could end up on the outside looking in after championship weekend.

And speaking of championship weekend, Kiffin’s FAU Owls host North Texas for the C-USA title. He won’t let his players anywhere near the rat poison before facing the Mean Green.

He wasn’t finished joking about Tennessee, either.

Thank you, Lane.
