Lane Kiffin references Nick Saban 'rat poison' comments in goofy tweets

It’s been awhile since we’ve heard from our pal Lane Kiffin.

Kiffin is now the head coach at Florida Atlantic, which has won three of its last four games, including its first two conference games. On Monday night, Kiffin took to Twitter to boast about his team’s recent play, while maybe goofing on his old employer a bit.

The “rat poison” comment refers to Alabama coach Nick Saban, who lamented Saturday night that positive praise from the media is like “rat poison” for the mentality of his team. For Kiffin, the former Alabama offensive coordinator, he’s happy with the media in this case with ESPN’s FPI formula giving FAU the best chance to win Conference USA.

What he thought of Saban’s sentiment is not really clear in this tweet (as is the case with most of his tweets). Kiffin says he was “not trolling” Saban.

And in a follow-up tweet, Kiffin noted his team’s success running the ball this season. In FAU’s wins over Middle Tennessee and Old Dominion the last two weekends, the Owls have put up 705 rushing yards. FAU is No. 10 nationally in rushing yards, six spots behind the Crimson Tide.

Kiffin referenced Alabama players Jalen Hurts, Damien Harris, Najee Harris and Josh Jacobs in the tweet.

I couldn’t tell you what his point is with these tweets, maybe other than to simply just note how well both teams are doing with their respective rushing attacks. What I do know if this: Kiffin has a wild approach to Twitter.

Oh, and Saban probably isn’t too concerned about what his old coordinator has to say anyway. He seems to have had a nice Monday:
